Let the suspense begin as in just days, anxious filmmakers will be on the edge of their seats. Hours of critiquing have come to a close as finalists for the 2013 CHS Film Festival were announced on April 19. The free showcase in the CHS auditorium on April 29 is hosted by the Emerging Media and Communications (EMAC) Academy and KCBY-TV at Coppell High School. The festival begins at 7 p.m., with the red carpet welcoming distinguished guests beginning at 6:30 p.m. First place in each division receives a $100 prize.

Middle School Division finalists (grades six through eight)
Box Boy — Evan Bailey, Rohin Balkundi, Maurya Atluri and Pranav Venkateswaran (Coppell Middle School West)
Catch — Carlos Ramos, Sumedh Tadimeti and Justin Chemplanikal (Coppell Middle School West)
Childhood Memories — Amy Kitzman, Julia Holloway and Megan Fietz (Coppell Middle School North)
EMAC Video — Hannah Yao and Kendel Krutsch (Coppell Middle School North)
Perfect — Sophia Shams, Manasa Muppirala, Jacqueline Durand (Coppell Middle School West)
Scooter Cops — Sharon Arora, Josh Renfro, Hayden Guyse and Rishi Talati (Coppell Middle School North) The Catch of the Day — Max Pius (Coppell Middle School North)
The Perfect Athlete — Ryan Finglass, Jaryon Busby and Cole Kearby (Coppell Middle School North)

The films will be available for viewing at emacacademychs.weebly.com on Friday, April 26 after 5 p.m.

Launched in 2010, the Emerging Media and Communications Academy prepares Coppell High School students to become better communicators, a necessary life skill. EMAC focuses on communication careers in radio, television, film, web design, photography, magazine and newspaper/online reporting and graphic design.
