Officers from the Coppell Police Department were dispatched to an accident in the westbound, 700 block of I-635 at 11:56 p.m. to investigate a traffic accident involving an emergency vehicle.

Jacqueline Edford, a 24-year-old resident of Round Rock, struck an off-duty Bardwell police officer's vehicle, which was sitting stationary in a construction zone with its red-and-blue lights flashing, while she was traveling 60 miles per hour in her 2006 BMW.

The police officer, who was working traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after the incident, and Edford was issued citations for "Fail to Control Speed" and "Fail to Yield Right of Way — Emergency Vehicle," according to a news release.

Edford was not intoxicated at the time of the incident.
