It was a travel weekend for the top 28 Coppell Cross Country Runners as they competed against over 40 other teams from across Texas at the McNeil Invitational held on Sat. Oct. 1st at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, Tx.   The top 14 girls competed in two divisions, 7 in the Gold and 7 in the Varsity.  In the Gold Division, sophomore Maddie Hulcy set a personal record coming in 29th overall in a time of 18:41.28.  She was followed by Izzy Iseley, Sydney Rowe and Ardie Saunders who all also broke the 20 minute mark.  Jimena Benavides rounded out the top five finishers in this division.  The Team finished in 11th place overall out of over 40 teams.

In the girls Varsity Division, freshman Shelby Spoor also had a personal best coming in 23rd overall with a time of 19:45.67 making her the fifth runner for the Cowgirls under 20 minutes, a first for Coppell this season.  Taylor Peltier, Gracie McKethan, Ashley Scrivner, and Joni Goh were also top finishers for Coppell helping to lead their team to a 7th place finish out of 39 teams.

On the boys side, the 7 runners for Coppell in the Gold division also brought home a 7th place finish.  Nathan Sims was the top finisher for the Cowboys coming in 41st out of over 500 runners with his best time of the season in 15:50.29.  He was followed by teammate  Alan Huo coming in 62nd.   Other top runners for Coppell were Grant Reece, Marcos Bohn and Kaz Carlsen-Phelan . 

In the Boys Varsity Division, Garrett Freddo led his team to an 11th place finish coming in 20th overall in a time of 16:35.21.  Troy Briscoe was close behind in 36th place followed by AJ Rothwell, Franklin Truax and Justin Chow. 

Back in Dallas, the Coppell JV teams had outstanding performances in the Jesuit Classic at Norbuck Park on Friday Sept 30th.  The Boys brought home the 2nd place trophy finishing just behind Frisco Wakeland, and the girls came in third just behind Frisco Liberty and Hebron Highschool.  Freshman Zayna Siddiqui came in 6th place overall (22:00.5) and was the top runner for the Cowgirls.  Kaitlin Reznicek,  Darby Shepard, June Poopenead and Savannah Guitierrez were close behind in 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th place.   In the JV boy’s race, it was Grant Evans leading his team  by coming in 4th place overall in a time of 18:07.9 followed by Matteo Agius, Andres Abrego Guerra, Fabian Lugo and Tyler Sewell in 10th, 14th 17th and 35th  place respectively. 

All of Coppell’s teams are back together for one more regular season meet next weekend on Saturday Oct 8th at the Southlake Carroll Invitational which will be run at Bob Jones Park in Southlake.
