The Coppell Community Chorale will begin rehearsals for its spring semester on Monday,  January 9 at 7:00PM.  The volunteer based, non-audition choir performs under the direction of Mr. Joshua Brown.  He is in his fifth year as the Director of Choirs and Instructor of Music Theory at Coppell High School.  His choirs at the high school are consistent sweepstakes winners at UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contests and continue to gain a national reputation for excellence.  His choirs have performed at the 2016 Southwest American Choral Director's Convention and will perform at the 2017 Texas Music Educator's Association Convention.

Remaining performance dates for the Chorale's 2016-2017 season include "I Won't Grow Up", a celebration of children and literature through song, including favorite tunes from movies and musicals inspired by books to be held at the newly renovated Cozby Library and Community Commons on Saturday, February 25 and the traditional spring concert, "My Favorite Things" the weekend of May 5th at the Coppell Center for the Arts.  "My Favorite Thing" is the Chorale's first ever "Member's Choice" concert.  The music performed will be pieces chosen by Chorale members, reflecting the diversity of tastes and interests in the group.

The chorale rehearses Monday evenings from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Coppell Center for the Arts located at 157 S. Moore Road in Coppell.  The Chorale is celebrating its 30th year anniversary this season.  The choir brings together singers of all ages from Coppell and surrounding areas.  Its mission is to promote a greater appreciation and enjoyment of quality music throughout the community.  If you are interested in joining the spring semester, the Chorale would love to meet you at their first rehearsal of the new year on Monday, January 9th at 6:00PM prior to rehearsal beginning at 7:00PM.

Coppell Community Chorale presents its special holiday concert "Tis the Season", Saturday, December 10th 7:00 PM at Rejoice Lutheran Church on Sandy Lake Rd.

The concert will feature director and guest vocalist Dr. Robert C. Chalwell, Jr.  Robert was formerly the Minister of Music at First United Methodist in Coppell.  He directed the chorale from 2011-214. Robert left Texas to pursue a career in education in the field of the doctorate, political science.  He currently resides in Syracuse, New York.

The Chorale will sing a variety of holiday favorites including a sing-a-long time with your favorite carols.  Join us in celebrating the spirit of the season through song!

Joshua Brown is thrilled to be joining the Coppell Community Chorale for their 30th Season.  He is in his fifth year as the Director of Choirs and Instructor of Music Theory at Coppell High School. His choirs at Coppell are consistent sweepstakes winners at UIL Concert & Sightreading Contests and continue to gain a national reputation for excellence.  His choirs have performed at the 2016 Southwest American Choral Director's Convention and will perform at the 2017 Texas Music Educator's Association Convention.  

Mr. Brown received his B.M. in Church Music from Dallas Baptist University and M.M. in Choral Conducting from Baylor University. While at Baylor, Mr. Brown was privileged to conduct all of the major choral ensembles culminating in a performance of the Schubert Mass in G with the A Cappella Choir and members of the Baylor Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, Mr. Brown was selected as one of eight National Graduate Semifinalists in the Choral Conducting Competition of the American Choral Director's Association. He has studied conducting and choral music with Anton Armstrong, Jeffery Ames, Donald Bailey, Stephen Heyde, Stephen Holcomb, and Eric Wilson. He has studied voice with Susan Wyatt and organ with Joyce Jones and Stephen Morris.

In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. Brown has served as an officer or committee member for TMEA Regions 16, 20 and 31.  He has also served numerous time as an AP Music Theory Reader.  He is frequently called upon to serve as an adjudicator, clinician and accompanist throughout the state and holds memberships in ACDA, TCDA, TMEA, and TMAA.  A 2002 Distinguished Graduate of Madisonville High School, Mr. Brown is the son of Glyna and Ray Brown of Madisonville, TX, and brother to Jacob Brown. Mr. Brown is married to Hillary (McIntyre) Brown who teaches 5th Grade at Lee Elementary in Coppell ISD.
