Coppell is home to a group of budding high-school age entrepreneurs. Last Thursday, the INCubatoredu program, a full-year authentic entrepreneurship experience offered by Coppell High School, had its final pitch night at VARIDESK headquarters.

The students developed their own product or service startup to gain “investment funds” in a final shark tank-style pitch event. The ideas were future ready, including an app to outsource everyday tasks and an app to teach children to play musical instruments.

The winning team – “PIK” – created an app that helps vegans, vegetarians and more track down viable food options in their area. Four high school students (Sahithi Arimanda, Anoohya Moravaneni, Alan Park and Anchita Tandon) showcased their idea. They presented to prominent local judges including VARIDESK CEO, Jason McCann, Isaiah Stanback, former Dallas Cowboy, and co-founder of Steadfast Fitness, Amanda Nevels, co-owner of Coppell TaeKwonDo, and Cliff Long, Coppell City Councilman.

After the group presented their full business model, including a competitive analysis, financial model, and communications and funding plans, they fielded tough questions from the judging panel. The event marked the end of a year-long entrepreneurship course taught at Coppell High School in which groups of students were mentored through the process of building business plans for companies they conceived.

Team PIK will go on to submit their presentation in a national competition hosted by Uncharted Learning in Chicago, where the top five teams will have the chance to win a $10,000 scholarship.
