The Coppell Women's Club will hold their annual Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 3 at the Courtyard Marriott in Grapevine from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The luncheon features many vendors with unique items to help attendees with their holiday shopping. If you are interested in being a vendor at this well attended event, please contact the Coppell Women's Club by Monday, October 20.  The cost to participate as a vendor is either $50 per table or two door prizes valued at $25 each.  Each table is limited to one vendor only.  Sign up by

If you have had the interest in visiting the Biodiversity Education Center in Coppell Wednesday will the your perfect chance. The Coppell Women's Club will hold it's October 1 meeting at the center located at 367 S. Freeport Parkway in Coppell.

The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. with refreshments consisting of breakfast and brunch items, yogurt sundaes, coffee, granola bars, a fruit tray, tea sandwiches, mini quiches and bagels.

At 10:00 a.m. David Goodner, geologist/paleontologist and director on the Board of Friends of Coppell Nature Park, will speak about the Geologic History of Coppell and the Nature Park.

An optional 30 minute nature walk will follow the meeting at 11:00 a.m. If you wish to participate in the nature walk, please dress for the weather and walking over natural terrain.

Mr. Goodner has been married for 46 years, has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.  He has been living in Coppell since 1989. He is now retired, but during his professional career, he was a paleontologist, geologist and manager with Mobil Oil for 26 years.  Career highlights include 6 years living in Stavanger, Norway and 18 years living in Russia and Kazakhstan.  He opened new offices for Mobil Oil in Moscow and in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and retired as vice president of Mobil Oil Kazakhstan.  He then joined Texaco International Petroleum as  President of their Asia Division, living in Kazakhstan and retiring finally in 2002.

Now a volunteer geologist with the Friends of Coppell Nature Park, he is also a volunteer guest speaker in geology and paleontology for the Coppell public schools.

The Coppell Women's Club will hold a Welcome Back Coffee on Wednesday, August 13 at 9:30 a.m. at North Lake College Coppell Campus.

The coffee gives the current membership, along with those interested in joining the club, a chance to sign up for small groups (SIG) with a wide variety of special interests, from gardening, gourmet cooking, book reading, wine tasting, golf and much more. Membership is offered at only $25 if registered before September 3.  Dues can be paid by check at the Coffee or by PayPal.

If you have considered joining the Coppell Women's Club, this is an excellent opportunity to see what the club has to offer.

Join the Coppell Women's Club, May 7, for their spring luncheon at the Marriott Courtyard, 2200 Bass Pro Court, Grapevine.

This year's luncheon theme is A Taste of Tuscany. Appetizers and iced tea will be served by the pool at 11:00 a.m., a cash bar is available. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the ladies will enjoy a wonderful lunch menu with a winter kale with red and yellow pear tomato, basil, olives, focaccia croutons and port wine vinaigrette salad; marsala chicken breast with tagliatelle pasta, broccolini and mushrooms; Italian cannoli with grand marnier reduction. A vegetarian, vegan and lactose free option is available, as well as a gluten free option. A musical performance by Myrna Blackwood-Hunt, Ms. Texas Senior America 2013, is the planned program.

Ms. Blackwood was raised in Gospel music as part of the famous "Blackwood Brothers Quartet" family of singers and has been performing on stage since the age of six. She worked with the Miss Texas/America Pageants for twenty years teaching voice, choreography and motivation. Myrna has performed for clients such as Rockwell International, IBM, Toyota and General Motors and The Texas State Society, where she performed at one of the Inaugural Balls for Former President George Bush, Sr. She worked closely with Oprah Winfrey for the "Save the Children Foundation" and performed with celebrities like Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink, The Gatlin Brothers, Leann Rimes and well loved comedians Bob Hope and Red Skelton, Myrna also performed on Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Myrna now spends her time performing for city functions, veterans groups, senior centers, volunteer organizations, assisted living and memory care facilities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The cost to attend the luncheon is$25 per member and $35 for guests. Reservations should be made by May 1 either online with PayPal or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 1692, Coppell, TX 75019

The Coppell Women's Club invites you to their Travel Night meeting on Thursday, April 10 at Northlake College, 101 S. Royal Lane in Coppell. Ralph Iantosca, owner of Gogirl Travel, will be featured as a special speaker. The meeting will begin at 7:00 as Mr. Iantosca gives a talk about travel programs they organize for women, interesting places to visit and details about some of his own personal travel adventures. "My specialty and true love, passion and interest is with the Safari business in Africa & the Galapagos islands of Ecuador and private jet expeditions around the world," he said.
With an impressive travel background, Mr. Iantosca has the expertise to make your vacation truly memorable.  He has visited almost every country in Europe, loves the intimacy and port intensive itineraries of small ship cruising, has visited eight countries in Africa many times, as well as Australia and Asia.

Catherine Cuellar, executive director of the Dallas Arts District, will be the speaker at the April 2 Coppell Women's Club meeting. Ms. Cueller will talk about the interesting arts opportunities and happenings in the Dallas Arts District. The District is the largest contiguous urban cultural neighborhood in the United States and is the world headquarters of the Global Cultural Districts Network.

For two decades Ms. Cueller has worked as an award-winning multimedia journalist for national public radio stations and programs, Sojourners magazine and The Dallas Morning News among others. Previously, she spent five years as communications manager for the sixth-largest electric power grid in the U.S., Oncor.

The Coppell Women's Club meets at 9:30 a.m. for social time, with the meeting starting at 10:00 a.m. Meetings are held at North Lake College, North Campus, 101 South Royal Lane, Coppell. Come spend a morning connecting with this group of wonderful ladies whose mission is to promote friendship and a strong community among all women who have an interest in Coppell, and to provide social, charitable, cultural, and educational opportunities.
