Coppell Music Academy hosts three music recitals a year. One in the spring, summer and fall/winter. Our next upcoming recital will take place in early April. We encourage all of our students to participate and display their amazing progress thus far! The purpose of our recitals is to improve confidence and self-esteem, increase students repertoire by adding new songs to commit to for next recitals and to be a motivational builder when students are awarded at the end and are excited to have participated with their peers in an enjoyable musical activity. On behalf of everyone at Coppell Music Academy, we are excited to see all the new material and progress from our students in the April music recital!

As stated by www.psychologytoday.com, “the emotions evoked by music don’t just feel good — they’re healthy for you, too. A meta-analysis of 400 music studies found that listening to music has the ability to reduce anxiety, fight depression and boost the immune system. Clinical music therapists have even started popping up, prescribing music for everything from Alzheimer’s to autism spectrum disorder (in addition to other treatments, of course).”

According to Joytunes.com, “Music is also proven to help tremendously in social situations, including work environments, friendships, and even more involved relationships. The training that the mind and body go through to develop musical comprehension is the same as the training required to develop speech and verbal skills, essential components in any relationship.”

According to Effective Music Training.com, “Playing a musical instrument can be very fun and exciting. Not only is it fun to play music you enjoy but it feel wonderful to hear an audience applaud you for giving a great performance. It can also be very honorable and gratifying to voluntarily play in your local community and see the happiness on peoples faces because they enjoy watching you play.” These are awesome reasons to begin a journey of self-fulfillment through the arts of music!

According to Softschools.com, “The piano is a musical instrument of the string family. The earliest piano was called the 'pianoforte' (Italian term) which is derived from the word 'fortepiano' which is another Italian term for soft (piano), and loud (forte). This term refers to the ability of the instrument to sound loud or soft depending on the musician's playing. The piano is the most commonly played instrument by musicians in the world, and it is used in a variety of music styles including classical, pop, jazz, rock, blues, folk, country, and many more.”

Each year the mean grades of the students whose chosen a music course in their curriculum were higher than students who did not choose music as an optional course. In the journal Behavioral Brain Research by Leonid Perlovsky of Harvard University, he described a study of 180 students in Quebec. Based on the students excellence in elementary school they were all selected for an International Baccalaureate Program meaning they were “among the top grade level of their school.” During the first two years of secondary school, music education was compulsory. For the final three years, music courses were optional; the students had their choice of music, drama or painting/sculpture classes. Researchers recorded the student's’ academic performance in their full range classes which included science, math, history and foreign languages. The results for the kids’ final three years of schooling were quite striking.
