Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Wrap Up District Meet

The Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls competed in the District Meet on Friday at North Lakes Park in Denton, leaving everything on the course against one of the toughest districts in Texas. Both squads ran with determination and heart, and while team qualification proved just out of reach, Coppell runners delivered personal bests and standout performances that capped an impressive season.

Cowgirls Highlights

The Varsity Girls team ran courageously, with five of seven runners posting personal records. Senior leader Maya Easterwood ran one of the finest races of her career, finishing 2nd overall with a PR the fastest 5K time ever recorded by a Coppell athlete. Maya executed her race plan perfectly, said Coach Wren. We were hoping she could challenge for first, but that was still a phenomenal performance. She will advance to the Regional Meet in Lubbock on October 21.

The JV Girls also ended their season on a strong note, with Charlotte Baade leading the way and running the 7th fastest Coppell girls time on the course. Solid efforts from Vanini Agarwal, Shrriya Bedse, Bess Williams, and Hannah Stumm highlighted the depth and improvement across the girls program this season.

Cowboys Highlights

The Varsity Boys ran a competitive race that gave them a chance to qualify, but fell just short against top district opponents. Still, two standout athletes Diego Morales and Sidharth Kerthipati earned individual qualifications to Regionals, each running personal bests.

Coach Wren praised their effort: Both Diego and Sid have continued to improve as the season has gone on. Im excited to keep training them and see how they compete in Lubbock.

The JV Boys squad turned in the best finish of the day, placing multiple runners in the top group and showing the future is bright. Standouts included Rodrigo Abrego, Jose Murillo, Marco Noyola, Srivanth Rudrangi, Vihaan Sahni, Abishek Suresh, Rigved Nehere, and Allan Ramirez. Many recorded personal or near-personal bests, demonstrating the depth Coppell has moving forward.

Coachs Perspective

Coach Wren reflected on the District results:
Sometimes you can do everything youre capable of and still get beat. Thats what happened today for both our boys and girls. But I couldnt be prouder of how they competed. We had so many PRs, and we proved that our athletes are learning how to run tough races.

He also noted the scale of improvement: 19 out of 27 Coppell girls ran season bests, while 24 out of 45 Coppell boys ran season bests at District.

Looking Ahead

Coppell will now turn its attention to the Regional Meet in Lubbock on October 21, where Maya Easterwood, Diego Morales, and Sidharth Kerthipati will represent the Cowboys and Cowgirls. For the rest of the team, the season will officially conclude at the Nike South Invitational in College Station on November 24.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Shine at Haltom Pre-District Meet

The Coppell cross-country teams competed in the Haltom Pre-District Meet on Thursday, October 2, after last weekends Jesuit meet was canceled due to conditions. This make-up meet gave many athletes a chance to showcase their progress, and Coppell made the most of the opportunity. Despite a tough course, the Cowboys and Cowgirls turned in impressive performances, earning team victories and individual medals across multiple divisions.

Cowboys Highlights

Varsity Boys Coppell took 1st place out of 23 teams in a field of 225 runners. Top finishers included Rodrigo Abrego (12th), Vihaan Sharma (28th), Lukas Stumm (29th), Abishek Suresh (30th), and Rigved Nehere (35th). Rodrigo also earned a medal for finishing in the Top 20.
JV Boys The Cowboys finished 3rd out of 19 schools, just one point from 2nd and only eight points shy of the team title. Medalists were Ansh Patel (6th), Aaron Joseph (10th), and Dee Raibourn (13th). Carlos Ramirez (22nd) and Vihaan Chodisetti (24th) narrowly missed medaling but impressed with strong performances.

Cowgirls Highlights

JV Girls Coppell dominated, winning 1st place out of 10 teams and placing five runners in the Top 20. Laurel Storey claimed the individual title, followed by Sophia Sarmiento in 2nd. Lauren Tang (7th), Joanna Benjamin (14th), and Sophia Rincon (16th) also medaled, leading a sweep that showed Coppells depth and talent.

Coachs Perspective

Coach Wren praised his athletes efforts:

It is a big deal anytime you win a race as a team. I am super proud of these JV runners winning a Varsity race. Our girls dominated the competition, and our JV Boys were right there competing for the top spot. This meet was a great tune-up for District. I cant wait to see the kids compete one last time this season at North Lakes Park in Denton against stiff district competition. Im confident that our kids will compete well.

Next up, Coppell heads to North Lakes Park in Denton for the District Meet on October 10. With momentum from Haltom and continued progress throughout the season, the Cowboys and Cowgirls are ready to take on their toughest challenge yet.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Take On Cowboy Jamboree Challenge

The Coppell Varsity Cowboys and Cowgirls traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Friday, September 26, to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree against high school teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas. The beautiful, well-maintained Oklahoma State University course was also the toughest challenge Coppell has faced this season, testing both endurance and race strategy.

Cowboys Highlights

The Varsity Boys finished 9th out of 44 teams in a competitive field of 467 runners. Coppells top performers were Diego Morales (42nd), Sidharth Kerthipati (66th), Tanish Neelapu (79th), and Rohit Kalpathy (81st). Coach Wren noted how the boys worked together throughout the race, showing signs of the team unity that will be critical at District.

Cowgirls Highlights

On the girls side, Maya Easterwood dominated the Varsity Girls race, taking first place by more than 40 seconds. Coach praised her race plan and control from start to finish. Finleigh Sanders (81st) and Anusha Patki (83rd) also turned in strong performances, working well together in a field of 389 runners.

Coachs Perspective

Coach Wren reflected, This was the most challenging course weve run this year, but I like where we are heading into District. The boys truly ran like a team for the first time this season, and Maya showed just how strong she can be when she executes her plan. If we can perform well on the OSU course, then the District course will feel like a piece of cake.

Next up, Coppell prepares for the District meet in Denton. With momentum from a strong showing at Cowboy Jamboree, both the Cowboys and Cowgirls are eager to test themselves against familiar rivals.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Take On Dual Challenge at Lewisville and Nike South Meets

The Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls faced back-to-back competition last week in two new and challenging locations. On Thursday, September 18, the JV squads ran at the Rick Neill Memorial Meet at Lake Park in Lewisville, while on Friday, September 19, the Varsity teams tested themselves at the Nike South Invitational. Both meets brought high humidity and unfamiliar courses, providing a valuable test for Coppells runners as District approaches.

Cowboys Highlights

At the Lewisville meet, Sam Meier dominated the Varsity Boys division, running confidently from start to finish in his return from injury. Strong support came from Allan Ramirez, Abishek Suresh, Rigved Nehere, Aiden George, and Nolan Reeder, all of whom impressed with their aggressive racing on a tough course.

At Nike South, Coppells Varsity Boys Elite squad continued to show promise. Diego Morales once again displayed his consistency, while teammates Tanish Neelapu and Sidharth Kerthipati turned in strong performances. Coach Wren noted that Tanish is rounding into form and that Sid continues to improve each week. Srivanth Rudrangi stepped up as Coppells top runner in the Varsity Boys division, providing valuable leadership for the squad.

Cowgirls Highlights

At Lewisville, Bishakha Sinha led the Cowgirls with a 10th-place finish in the Varsity Girls division. Coach Wren praised her hard work in practice and believes she will continue to improve as the season progresses.

At Nike South, Coppells Varsity Girls Elite team battled a stacked field. Maya Easterwood led the way with an impressive 4th-place finish, while freshmen Finleigh Sanders and Anusha Patki turned in strong races to bolster the team. With five underclassmen in key roles, the Cowgirls continue to gain experience and confidence heading into championship season.

Coachs Perspective

Coach Wren reflected, Both meets were great opportunities for our runners to face tough competition on new courses. It was exciting to see Sam Meier back strong, Bishakha pushing herself into the top 10, and our Varsity teams stepping up at Nike South. We are young, but this group continues to work hard and improve each week. Im confident that the progress were making will pay off when District arrives.

Next up, Coppells Varsity teams will travel to the Cowboy Jamboree to compete on a college course against another strong field. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad will race at the Jesuit XC Classic, a traditionally fast meet that always produces exciting results.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Race to Season Bests at Southlake Invitational

The Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls cross-country teams competed at the Southlake XC 5K Invitational on September 6 at Bob Jones Park. Coppell was one of 29 schools in attendance, with over 1,600 runners across divisions that ranged from 182 to 453 athletes each. It was a competitive field on a fast course and Coppell rose to the occasion.

Coach Wren noted, It was great competition on a fast course. Overall, over 90% of the Coppell runners ran either a personal best or season best.

Cowboys Highlights

In the Varsity Boys Elite race, Coppell finished 15th overall with all eight runners earning season best times. Diego Morales, Sam Meier, Tyler Kim, and Sidharth Kerthipati led the way, showing strong progression. I love the progression I saw from this group. Im optimistic that we are moving in the right direction, said Coach Wren.

The Varsity Boys Open team placed 11th overall. Srivanth Rudrangi and Marco Noyola led the team, with many runners working toward spots on the Elite Varsity squad. The JV Boys earned a 9th-place finish, led by Ansh Patel, Hugh Harris, Rigved Nehere, and Abishek Suresh.

Cowgirls Highlights

The Varsity Girls Elite team finished 19th overall, a strong performance given that five of the seven runners are freshmen and the squad was without its top runner this week. Finleigh Sanders, Anusha Patki, and Rachel Stumm led Coppell, with both Finleigh and Anusha running season best times. This group continues to gain confidence each time out, Wren shared.

In the Varsity Girls Open race, Hannah Stumm and Charlotte Baade led the Cowgirls to a 17th-place team finish. Coach praised the depth and competitiveness of the girls roster: Like the boys, the girls on this team continue to battle for a spot on the Elite Varsity team. I love the competition that we have amongst our top runners this year. I believe itll lead to some great things later on.

The JV Girls team placed 18th, with standout efforts from Shrriya Bedse, Marge Tse, and Joanna Benjamin.

Coachs Perspective

Coach Wren reflected on the overall performance: Im extremely encouraged by what I saw this weekend. Over 90% of our runners achieved a personal best or season best, which shows how hard this team is working. We have a great mix of experienced runners and freshmen who are gaining confidence every meet.

Looking Ahead

Next up, Coppell will compete at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Saturday, September 13, at Myers Park in McKinney. The meet will provide another strong test as the Cowboys and Cowgirls continue to build momentum.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Compete at Greenhill 6-Mile Relay

The Coppell cross-country teams competed in the Greenhill-Lukes Locker 6-Mile Relay on August 23, opening their second meet of the season in a unique and competitive format. Each runner completed a 1.5-mile leg, combining for a total of six miles per four-person team. The Texas heat added an extra challenge, but Coppells athletes showed resilience and teamwork throughout the event.

Coach Wrens Perspective

This meet was a lot of fun for the kids that competed, said Coach Wren. The setup is different than a typical cross-country meet. Each school is made up of multiple four-person teams that each run a total of six miles, with each runner completing 1.5 miles individually.

Cowgirls Highlights

Varsity Girls: Finleigh Sanders, Anusha Patki, Bishakha Sinha, and Rachel Stumm placed 8th in 39:28.
JV A Girls: Vanini Agarwal, Rhea Bala, Pragna Vykuntam, and Carolina Saenz finished 9th in 44:54.
JV B Girls: Marge Tse, Joanna Benjamin, Lojayna Ahmed, and Sophia Sarmiento placed 10th in 47:48.

It was fun to see all of the girls compete in a fun but competitive atmosphere, Wren said.

Cowboys Highlights

Varsity Boys: Sam Meier, Tanish Neelapu, Sidharth Kerthipati, and Diego Morales earned 4th in 31:05. Tyler Kim, Itsuki Pena, Jose Murillo, and Srivanth Rudrangi followed with a 9th-place finish in 32:38.
JV A Boys: Vihaan Sahni, Vihaan Sharma, Farhan Mohammed, and Marco Noyola placed 3rd in 33:14. Allan Ramirez, Cannon Stehly, Lukas Stumm, and Aiden George finished 8th in 35:23.
JV B Boys: Noah Law, Hugh Harris, Nolan Reeder, and Rigved Nehere ran 33:41 to take 3rd. Aaron Joseph, Dee Raibourn, Nehemiah Skariah, and Nikhil Pande secured 10th in 35:50.

It is a lot of fun for me to watch the kids work together in their relay teams, Wren added.

Looking Ahead

Coach Wren noted, We really seem to be progressing. This weeks Coach T-Marcus Invitational is going to be a good measuring stick to see where we are as a team right now. Itll be our first 5K of the season on the district course against many of our district opponents.

The upcoming T Marcus Invitational in Denton will mark Coppells first 5K of the season and a key test against district competition.

Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls Shine at Friday Night Hawk Invite

The Coppell High School cross-country teams opened their 2024 season under the lights at McInnish Park this past Friday night, competing against 22 schools at the annual Friday Night Hawk Invitational. The two-mile night race provided a unique atmosphere, and Coppell athletes delivered standout performances across all divisions.

Cowboys Highlights

Coach Wren reflected, It was a cool experience for the kids to run underneath the lights on a Friday night. Although the race was only 2 miles, I saw a lot of good things from the kids.

Freshman Vihaan Sahni won the JV Boys division, while fellow freshman Vihaan Sharma led Coppells Varsity squad as its top performer. In the Elite Varsity Boys race, Diego Morales finished in the top five, with teammates Tanish Neelapu and Sam Meier both placing in the top 10. Freshman Tyler Kim also stood out as the fastest Coppell ninth grader.

Cowgirls Highlights

On the girls side, Coach Wren noted, Overall, I was pleased with how many of our younger runners competed. I look forward to seeing them continue to improve as the year goes on.

Freshman Charlotte Baade, recently cleared from injury, secured a top-10 finish in the JV Girls race. In Varsity competition, freshman Hannah Stumm emerged as Coppells top finisher.

The Elite Varsity Girls race was highlighted by senior standout Maya Easterwood, who dominated the field to win by nearly 40 seconds. Four Coppell freshmen Rachel Stumm, Finleigh Sanders-Burk, Anusha Patki, and Bishakha Sinha followed close behind, with Rachel and Finleigh earning top-20 finishes.

Looking Ahead

With a strong mix of experienced leaders and promising newcomers, the Coppell Cowboys and Cowgirls are poised for a memorable season. The team next competes at the Lukes Locker 6-Mile Relay, an early test of both depth and teamwork.

Coppell Family Honors Daughters Legacy with Day of Love and Community Workshop

Coppell resident Caitlin Rogers tragically lost her life on February 16, 2022, when she was fatally shot by her former abuser. At the time of the incident, Caitlin was on her way to meet his mother to share her truth about their relationship. She intended to explain the abuse she had endured, the reasons for cutting ties, and how she had begun to reclaim her life and move forward.

In her memory, Caitlins parents, Richard and Anne Rogers, have declared February 16th as a Day of Love. This initiative is dedicated to honoring Caitlins life and raising awareness about relationship violence in Coppell and beyond.

To mark this day, the Rogers family has partnered with the One Love Foundation to host a workshop at Caitlins alma mater, New Tech High, on February 16, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The workshop is free and open to high school students, educators, coaches, and parents. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of unhealthy relationships and how to promote healthy ones.

One Loves mission is to empower young people with the knowledge and tools they need to foster healthy relationships while identifying unhealthy behaviors, said Anne Rogers. We hope this workshop will help prevent others from experiencing the pain Caitlin and our family went through.

In addition to the workshop, Day of Love t-shirts were sold to honor Caitlins memory. There are still some shirts available and theyre just $14 while supplies last! Each shirt comes with a free Day of Love decal. If youre interested in purchasing one (or a few), please send a DM through @caitlinsdayoflove on Instagram. Community members are encouraged to wear their shirts on February 16th to show support for Caitlins legacy and the fight against relationship violence.

The Rogers family hopes this annual observance will inspire the community to prioritize healthy relationships, raise awareness about the warning signs of abuse, and foster a culture of support and education.

Coppells Maya Easterwood Takes 3rd at UIL 6A State Cross Country Championships!

Over 100 of Texas top high school runners lined up at the UIL 6A State Cross Country Championships on November 1-2, 2024, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, and Coppell's Maya Easterwood delivered big! Maya took an impressive 3rd place with a time of 17:36.80, finishing among the states best.

Facing some serious competition from across Texas, Maya held her own and earned a podium spot, right up there with champions Macy Wingard from Denton Braswell and Lily Fawcett from Bridgeland.

Coach Wren shared his excitement, saying:

"We are so incredibly proud of Maya. Finishing 3rd at the State Meet is an incredible accomplishment. She had an unbelievable season but it wasnt surprising because of how hard she works in practice. I know she will continue to grow as a runner and I cant wait to see whats in store for her these next two high school seasons.

Congratulations to Maya and to the entire Coppell cross-country team for an incredible season of dedication and hard work! Each runner pushed their limits, supported their teammates, and represented Coppell with pride. Heres to an even stronger season next year!

Coppell Varsity Takes on 300+ Teams at Hoka/McNeil Invitational in Round Rock

Our Varsity team traveled to Round Rock, Texas, to compete in the Hoka/McNeil Invitational on Saturday, September 21. With over 300 teams competing, the race featured some of the toughest competition in the state on the challenging state course. Despite the intense field, our athletes delivered impressive performances, showing both determination and grit. For many of our fresh runners, this meet provided valuable experience as they prepare for future competitions.

Individual and Team Highlights

Top Performers for the Male Runners

Gold Boys HS Teams (Overall 25thPlace):

Grant ONeal finished 86th - 16:51.00
Rohit Kalpathy finished 108th - 17:00.10
Rodrigo Abrego finished 134th - 17:13.80

Coach Wren added:

The varsity boys have been dealing with different illnesses over the course of the last three weeks. We were once again running without one of our runners. It was not a great day for our varsity boys. Grant O'Neal led the way. I felt like Rodrick Abrego ran a good race as well. It was Rodrick's first race with our top team, so I was anxious to see how he would do.

Silver Boys HS Teams (Overall 23rd Place):

Diego Morales finished 51st - 17:28.90
Sam Meier finished 83rd - 17:51.40
Aiden George finished 128th - 18:22.40

Per Coach Wren:

"The course got the best of our silver group as well. That said, I felt like Diego Morales ran well after being out a few weeks. I also felt like Sam Meier continues to impress during his 9th-grade year."

"Maya Easterwood ran a 17:37, improving her best course time by over 30 seconds. She finished 3rd overall. Maya was in control the entire race and really attacked the course. She was fun to watch and is running with a lot of confidence right now. Mallory Sherrer was Coppell's #2 runner on Saturday and ran the best time she's ever run on this 5k course. I was also impressed with how well Avery Fishman ran as she PR'd."

6A Varsity Girls HS Teams (Overall 23rd Place):

Akshaya Ashokanand finished 103rd - 23:19.40
Rhea Bala finished 104th - 23:19.50
Shreya Shah finished 120th 23:32.10

Coach Wren added:
"I was proud of how these girls battled through hot and humid conditions. The three that stood out the most were Akshaya Ashokanand, Rhea Bala, and Shreya Shah."

Maya Eastwood Shines at Marcus Coach T Invitational: 2nd Place in Elite Varsity Girls 5K!

After tackling the rocky Greenhill course in last Saturdays challenging 6-mile relay, our runners came into the Marcus Coach T Invitational on Saturday, August 31, more prepared and determined than ever. Despite fierce competition and challenging conditions, our teams secured several top finishes, including a 3rd place overall for Varsity Boys Elite and a standout 2nd place finish for Maya Eastwood in the Elite Varsity Girls 5K.

Divided into three groupsVarsity Elite, Varsity Open, and JV Eliteour athletes faced a formidable course through forested trails, battling not just the difficult terrain but also the intense heat. Staying focused, controlling their pace, and maintaining a strong sense of direction were crucial. Navigating this unpredictable terrain demanded strategy, precision, and mental toughness, and our runners rose to the occasion.

Individual and Team Highlights

Varsity Boys Elite: 3^rd Place Overall

Top Performers:

Pranav Vegiraju blazed through the course, earning 8th place overall with an outstanding time of 15:02, against a tough field of over 215 runners.

Rohit Kalpathy delivered a strong performance, completing his 5K in 15:48.

Coach Wren added, The boys finished 3rd overall in a stacked field of schools. We knew that this meet would give us a better idea of where we are as a team. I was very pleased with how we ran. I feel like we are in a better place than we were a year ago at the same point. Pranav Vegiraju led the way with a 15:02 and an 8th place finish. Rohit Kalpathy and Grant O'Neal ran very well also. Varsity Girls Elite: 16^th Place Overall

Top Performers:

Maya Eastwood dominated the field, finishing 2nd overall with an impressive time of 17:11, outpacing 162 other competitors.

Mallory Sherrer put in a strong performance, crossing the finish line at 19:16.

Coach Wren emphasized We finished 16th overall in a very tough field of schools. All the girls ran well on a tougher course than two weeks ago. It was a great opportunity for the girls to run the district course and get a feel for what it'll be like a little over a month from now. Maya Easterwood went toe to toe with Macy Wingard, the defending state champ, and finished at 17:11, just 5 seconds behind her for a 2nd place finish. Maya was excited about getting to run against some of the state's best and definitely rose to the occasion.

Varsity Boys Open: 2^nd Place Overall

Top Performers:

Tanish Neelapu battled against 251 other runners to secure 13th place with a swift time of 16:50.

Rodrigo Abrego was right on his heels, also finishing with a time of 16:50 to claim 15th place.

Coach Wren remarked, This group just missed winning the meet by finishing 2nd. Rodrigo Abrego and Tanish Neelapu led the way for this group both running a time of 16:50. Sam Meier and Jose Murillo rounded out our top 4 by both running a 17:23. I love the progress this group is showing.

Varsity Girls Open: 19^th Place Overall

Top Performers:

Avery Fishman led the way, finishing her 5K in 22:03, competing fiercely against 209 other runners.

Ava Garcia was right on Averys heels, crossing the line just two seconds later at 22:05.

We finished 19th overall, but I loved the competitiveness of this group. Avery Fishman, Ava Garcia, Rhea Bala, and Vanini Agarwal led the way. Avery ran significantly faster than two weeks ago, and Vanini improved her time by nearly a minute. Coach added.

JV Boys Elite: 7^th Place Overall

Top Performers:

Hugh Harris and Ansh Patel were in perfect sync, both clocking in at 18:26, standing out in a massive field of 376 competitors.

Coach Wren praised the teams performances: This team finished 7th overall. Hugh Harris and Ansh Patel led the way for this group by both running an 18:26. I was pleased with how this group competed.

JV Girls Elite: 7^th Place Overall

Top Performers:

Ishitha Mallidi put up a solid effort, finishing with a time of 23:23, against 285 runners.

Pragna Vykuntam followed closely, securing her spot with a time of 23:29.

Coach Wren remarked, We finished 7th overall. Ishitha Mallidi ran a much-improved race and led the way for this group.

Looking Ahead

Coach Wren concluded: This next weekend we will be a split-squad. Our top runners will be running at the Lubbock ISD Invitational and our remaining runners will be running at the Southlake Invitational. I look forward to both groups competing again this weekend. The runners in Lubbock will be running on the regional course and the other runners get the opportunity to run on a fast course at Bob Jones Park.

Our team showed incredible strength and determination on this challenging course. Despite facing some of the top runners, our athletes secured impressive top 20 finishes and demonstrated outstanding teamwork and strategic thinking. With this momentum, were excited to see how theyll perform in the upcoming meets, including the Lubbock ISD Invitational and the Southlake Invitational. We're proud of their efforts and will keep pushing forward until the next race!

Coppell High XCs JV and Varsity Boys Lead the Way at Greenhills 6-Mile Relay Debut!

On Saturday, August 24, Coppell High Schools Cross Country teams made their exciting relay debut at the legendary Greenhill/Lukes Locker 6-Mile Relay! In a thrilling team format, runners broke into groups of four, each tackling 1.5 miles of a challenging course filled with haybales and hills. With teamwork, determination, and incredible team spirit on full display, Coppells athletes faced tough competition and strengthened their bonds, celebrating every step of the way. The joy and energy were undeniable as the team came together for this unforgettable cross-country event.

Coach Wren remarked, This meet was definitely different from the others well attend this year. I wanted to give the kids a unique experience and a meet they could really enjoy. Each runner ran 1.5 miles instead of a 5k, but the course provided a great challenge. Despite missing several runners due to the SAT, those who competed performed very well.

Individual and Team Highlights

Varsity Boys:

The team of Srivanth Rudrangi, Tanish Neelapu, Grant ONeal, and Rohit Kalpathy finished 5th overall with a time of 31:45.62, each runner completing their 1.5-mile leg with impressive times.

Coach Wren added, We were missing a few varsity runners, but I was pleased with how the team of Grant, Rohit, Srivanth, and Tanish ran. The other varsity team, consisting of sophomores and freshmenDiego Morales, Sam Meier, Arya Khanna, and Itsuki Penacompeted well against older runners.

Varsity Girls:

The team of Rachel Arrington, Mallory Sherrer, Annie Reeder, and Maya Easterwood finished 6th overall with a time of 38:48.54, competing against more than 35 teams.

Maya and Mallory had the top times for the girls, praised Coach Wren. The varsity team just missed out on taking home a trophy. Rachel, Mallory, Annie, and Maya all ran well, and Im proud of their efforts.

JV Boys:

Both JV Boys A and JV Boys B teams dominated the competition, each taking 1st place overall in their respective divisions.

JV Boys Team A: Rodrick Abrego, Myles Metrano, Aiden George, and Jose Murillo finished 1st overall with a time of 34:29.40 in the JV A division.
JV Boys Team B: Farhan Mohammed, Christian Todd, Noah Law, and Hugh Harris also claimed 1st place, clocking a time of 36:16.52 in the JV B division.

Coach Wren praised the teams performances: The team of Jose, Rodrick, Aiden, and Myles finished first in the JV A division, and they all ran exceptionally well. The team of Noah, Hugh, Christian, and Farhan won the JV B division. Winning both JV Boys divisions was the highlight of the meet.

JV Girls:

The team of Shreya Shah, Rhea Bala, Delanee Mullen, and Ava Garcia finished 4th overall with a time of 44:04.65.

Coach Wren remarked, Ava, Rhea, Shreya, and Delanee competed hard and earned some hardware for their 4th place finish. Ava Garcia really stood out, running the best time among the JV Girls.

Looking Ahead

Coach Wren concluded: The timing of this meet is perfect because it comes the week before an extremely important race at North Lakes Park in Denton, where the District Meet will be held in October. Im really looking forward to seeing how our kids run on the district course against some of the top teams in the state. I have confidence that with a strong week of practice, theyll perform well next Saturday at the Marcus Coach T Invitational.

Our team came together for a strong relay debut, showing determination and teamwork on this tough course. Most importantly, they demonstrated incredible bonding and strategy. Until next time, we'll keep pushing forward!

Coppell High School Cross Country 1st Race of the Season at Waxahachie

On Saturday, August 17, the Coppell High School Cross Country boys and girls teams competed at the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational. This event gave Coppell athletes the chance to race against 23 teams from across the DFW area.

Individual and Team Highlights:

Varsity Girls:

Placed 4th overall.
Maya Easterwood placed 1st overall, finishing in 17:10. Mallory Sherrer finished 18th with a time of 19:09. Other scorers included Rachel Arrington (20:57) and Lauren Bennett (21:03).
Coach Wren expressed his satisfaction: I was pleased with our fourth-place finish. I believe it's the highest weve finished in the last four years. The girls really attacked the course, and their times reflect that. Maya Easterwood had an unbelievable performance today, running a 17:10. To my knowledge, I dont think any Coppell girl has ever run a 5K that fast. That time is nearly a minute faster than what she ran at the state meet last year. Im excited to watch us progress this year. No one outworks these girls. Theyre fun to watch train, and Im confident well continue to improve.

Varsity Boys:

Placed 1st overall out of 30 teams.
Top finishers included Pranav Vegiraju (1st, 14:59), Rohit Kalpathy (12th, 15:45), Grant ONeal (16th, 15:54), Srivanth Rudrangi (19th, 16:03), and Jayden Benjamin (16:12).
Coach Wren reflected: Pranav Vegiraju running a sub-15 was impressive, though not surprising due to his work ethic. He works so hard in practice, so I was excited to see him run a 14:59. Having three runners under 16 and the other two of the top five running low 16s was fun to watch. I think some coaches around the state will take notice of what we accomplished today. Another notable performance was Diego Morales running a 16:32 as our #6 runner. This was a great first step toward our goal of becoming district champions. We have a long way to go, but this was a nice start.

JV Girls:

Placed 2nd overall.
Top finishers included Avery Fishman (9th, 22:24), Ava Garcia (13th, 22:41), Shreya Shah (16th, 22:45), and Akshaya Ashokanand (17th, 22:45).
Coach Wren was impressed: We finished 2nd overall, and like the JV boys, we have many young runners who rose to the occasion today. Many of these girls ran a 5K for the first time, but you wouldnt know it from the way they attacked the course. They were led by Avery Fishman and Ava Garcia, who both ran excellent races.

JV Boys:

Placed 1st overall.
Top finishers included Samuel Meier (2nd, 17:36), Itsuki Pena (3rd, 17:41), Sidharth Kerthipati (6th, 17:57), Myles Metrano (8th, 17:58), and Marco Noyola (11th, 18:14).
Coach Wren was thrilled: Winning the meet with 30 points is pretty impressive. Our top four runners were freshmen, led by Samuel Meier and Itsuki Pena. Im excited to see these younger runners continue to develop. Theyve bought into what were doing, so Im not surprised theyve had early success.

Coach Wren concluded: Overall, Im pleased with all four teams. It was great to see us competing on the course against other schools. This years competition was tougher than the last couple of years, so it was a fantastic way to start our season. Im looking forward to the progress well make moving forward. Next week, well compete at the Greenhill 6-mile Relay, which is a little different but a lot of fun. I cant wait to watch our kids compete there.
