As a luncheon guest at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas, Texas, several Victory Place @ Coppell learners were able to listen to speaker Adam Segal, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and director of its Digital and Cyberspace Policy Program, who is an expert on the complexities of the web. His latest book, The Hacked World Order: How Nations Fight, Trade, Maneuver, and Manipulate in the Digital Age, offers sobering insights into the contentious geopolitics that are quickly becoming the new normal. Mr. Segal considers how the rise of digital technology—particularly the Internet and social media—are not only transforming the way we get news, but rewiring our political system, national security, diplomatic relations, and much more. Our learners gained insightful information concerning pressing cyber issues along with how our country and other countries are implementing laws to take downcombat the spread of fake news. Madeline Rocha said “Mr. Segal made me think about how autonomous cars could be hacked on the freeway, which makes me concerned about security issues from hackers in the future.”  This event was hosted by World Affairs Council Dallas.
