First United Methodist Church Coppell opens a new Ministry Center on December 7 with a consecration service and celebration that begins at 11:00 a.m. in the current sanctuary. The celebration includes hosting Bishop Mike McKee of the North Texas Annual Conference and a short ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Ministry Center is located across from the existing building on the corner of Heartz and Van Bebber. The facility has two areas, one for Student Ministry and one for Modern Worship. Student Ministry will office two staff members with an area for Bible study, weekly activities and other events. Modern Worship will host weekly worship services.

In addition to the two ministries, the church will host community events in the Ministry Center. Current plans include hosting a Traveler’s Worship Service on December 17 at 6:30 p.m. as a Christmas Eve worship service for those out of town on Christmas Eve. For Christmas Eve, Modern Worship Service will hold an evening service at 8:00 p.m. In 2015, the music ministry will produce a musical in the space. Senior Pastor Tom Palmer says of the new center, “The new Ministry Center of First United Methodist Church of Coppell will be a wonderful space for Modern Worship, for students to gather for fun and faith, and for community-wide events like musicals and other presentations.” Palmer goes on to say, “We are delighted to be able to share this beautiful new building as a blessing for the greater Coppell community.”

The approval to begin construction happened in March 2013 with ground breaking in January 2014. A committee of members of the church had oversight and involvement with the construction. Building committee chair Bill Braem said of the building, “This building represents the culmination of years of prayer, preparation, sacrificial giving and hard work.  We are excited about what God will do for our community through this beautiful new venue for ministry.” First United Methodist Church Coppell is located at 420 S. Heartz.
