Coppell resident Dan Koller has raised more than $6,000 during his campaign for the Place 6 seat on the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees.
All candidates in the May 5 elections are required to submit campaign finance reports by April 5 (the 30th day before the election) that cover their fundraising and expenditures through March 26. Koller’s report shows that he has raised $6,413. About a quarter of that money ($1,620) was contributed by Coppell ISD residents. The rest came from friends, family members, and colleagues past and present.
“The top three contributors to my campaign include the top two contributors to my life: my mother, Donna O’Dell, and my father, Irv Koller,” Koller said. “Rounding out the top three is my father-in-law, Jerry Harbaugh.
“I’m so grateful to them and everyone else who believes I would make a great school board trustee.”
Koller’s campaign finance reports show that he has spent $6,606.40, leaving him with $806.60 as of March 26, thanks to a $1,000 loan he made to his campaign fund last fall.
Koller and his wife, Jessica, moved their family to Coppell in 2012 expressly so their older son, Gabriel, could enroll in the district’s outstanding special-education program. Gabriel is now a seventh-grader at Coppell Middle School North, which he attends with his autism service dog, Presley. The Kollers’ younger son, Zachary, is a third-grader at Denton Creek Elementary School.
Koller is a graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas and Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. He is employed as a communications editor for the Allied Pilots Association. He was previously a newspaper reporter and editor for 18 years, including an eight-year stint at The Dallas Morning News followed by five years as the top editor at People Newspapers, publisher of Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People.
