Coppell Republican Women Invite Community to Wreaths Across America December 17 at 11 am

Wreaths Across America is December 17th, 2016 at Noon Eastern Time, 11 am Central Time

Coppell Republican Women and Rolling Oaks Memorial Center in Coppell will be participating in Wreaths Across America at 11:00 am Central Time.

The mission of Wreaths Across America is to Remember our fallen U.S. veterans, Honor those who serve and Teach your children the value of freedom.

The Coppell Republican Women, assisted by military veterans, will lay 7 wreaths at the cemetery representing the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Merchant Marine and POW/MIA. In addition, we have sponsored 41 additional wreaths which be laid on the head stones of U.S. veterans buried at Rolling Oaks Memorial Center.  Family members of these veterans have been invited to attend and lay wreaths on the graves of their family member. When the wreath is laid, we ask family and volunteers to Say Their Name.

A person dies twice: once when they take their final breath, and later, the last time their name is spoken. –WreathsAcrossAmerica.org

Wreaths Across America was founded in 2007 after the Arlington Wreath Project, which was founded in 1992, drew enough interest to expand outside of the Arlington National Cemetery. In 2014, Wreaths Across America and its national network of volunteers laid over 700,000 memorial wreaths at 1,000 locations in the United States and beyond, including ceremonies at the Pearl Harbor Memorial, as well as Bunker Hill, Valley Forge and the sites of the September 11 tragedies. This was accomplished with help from 2,047 fundraising groups, corporate contributions, and donations of trucking, shipping, and thousands of helping hands.

We are not here to “decorate graves." We're here to remember not their deaths, but their lives.

–Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America
