Stephen Tower, #22, and the rest of the Cowboys take on Montverde Academy of Orlando Florida, the #1 ranked team in the country.
The Cowboys Varsity Soccer Team was invited to travel to Orlando, Fla., January 16-18 to compete in the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament, one of the premier high school tournaments in the country.
In the Cowboys first game of the tournament on January 16, they beat Auburndale, Florida High School 5-0. Justin Todd and Drew Brinda each scored two goals while Austin Michaelis had one. Justin Todd was named player of the game. The Cowboys next defeated #2 nationally ranked San Clemente, California High School 2-0 on January 17 where Justin Todd and Austin Michaelis each had one goal. Kellen Reid was named player of the game for his outstanding defensive play against San Clemente.
The Cowboys only loss was to the #1 ranked high school team in the United States, Montverde Academy, in the Championship game on Saturday, January 18 where the Cowboys lost a close battle, 1-0. Montverde Academy is a unique team full of players from all over the world.
All three Cowboys teams play McKinney Boyd High School at home on Friday, January 24. They all begin their district play at home on Friday, February 7 with "Fill the Stands Night." JV2 plays at 4:30 p.m., JV at 5:45 p.m. and Varsity plays at 7:30 p.m. Please come out and cheer on your Cowboys and show them your support!
