Sydney Blaas after breaking 1:00 minute in the 100 freestyle.
The Coppell Swim teams took on some tough competition in some of their last meets before their big District meet on Friday, January 24. On Friday December 13, the Cowboys went to Mansfield for the annual Mansfield Invitational. With teams from all over the Metroplex in attendance, the Cowboys and Cowgirls had many standout performances. Senior Joanne Chu got very close to breaking the CHS girls 50 freestyle record, with at time of 25.2 seconds. Luke Meyer made finals and had great performances in both the 50 and 100 freestyle swims. The Coppell swimmer of the meet was Beoung Han. Beoung had a great 100 fly swim with a time of 56 seconds, which gave him a 10th place finish overall.

The following Tuesday, December 17, the Cowboys had a home meet against Mansfield Summit. Both the Cowgirls and Cowboys had great performances that led to both teams coming out on top. The Cowgirl swimmer of the meet was Sydney Blaas for a new personal best in the 100 freestyle swimming 59.5 seconds. Zach Grondines was selected as the boys swimmer of the meet for a new personal best by 4 seconds in the 500 free. His time was 5 minutes 36 seconds. Way to go Cowboys and Cowgirls!

The teams will have their last home meet of the season and celebrate Senior Night on Thursday, January 9 at the Coppell YMCA at 6 p.m. Come cheer on the swimmers as they take on Richland High School while honoring their eight graduating seniors.
