Coppell residents are being encouraged to drink responsibly this holiday season and not drive under the influence of alcohol.
The Coppell Police Department is cracking down on DWI laws, and a "Driving While Intoxicated Task Force" that is comprised of local officers will be patrolling areas of the city where DWI offenses are common from Dec. 18-31.
"This purposeful personnel allocation will help to ensure we have maximum impact on keeping the roadways of Coppell safe this holiday season," said Mac Tristan, chief of police, according to the city of Coppell website.
There have been no deaths in Coppell from traffic accidents so far in 2011, and this initiative is meant to help prevent them from happening.
