The largest public children's playground in Coppell is getting a facelift.
Kid Country, the playground complex located in Andy Brown Park next to the Coppell Aquatics and Recreation Center, will be torn down and rebuilt next year.
The tentative demolition date for the existing equipment is the week of April 2, 2012, according to the Kid Country website. Construction for the new equipment is expected to begin on April 16, and the playground will open on April 22. About 3,000 volunteers are needed to construct the new play area.
All of the architectural drawings for the new facility have been finished and were done by Robert S. Leathers and Associates — a firm that has designed over 2,500 playgrounds around the world, including ones in Carrollton, Irving and Arlington.
Right now, money is being raised to fund the new play place.
