Community Service Scholarships To Be Awarded by The Assistance League

Coppell high school students who have demonstrated excellence in service to the community and beyond should apply for a $1,000 college scholarship. Class rank, grade point average, and financial need are not considered for this scholarship. In order to promote and reward community service in youth, the Assistance League of Coppell is offering scholarships for graduating seniors who have exhibited interest in philanthropic work and have given their time and talents to improve their community.

This year, the ALC General Membership voted to let the members of The Assisteens of Coppell and students who have parents who are members of ALC to be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship as well.  In total, the ALC is prepared to provide three $1,000 scholarships this spring to qualifying graduating seniors.

The applications are due by March 31, 2020. The application can be found on the ALC website which is www.assistanceleague.org/coppell or it can be obtained via Naviance at Coppell High School. For additional information, contact CoppellAssistanceLeague@gmail.com.

Seniors at New Tech High School and residents of Coppell who are enrolled in a private school are eligible in addition to CHS students.  Selections will be based primarily on community service. Additional criteria considered will be character, citizenship, and recommendations.

The ALC of Coppell is well known for its Christmas in Coppell Home Tour. Money raised from that fundraiser helps to fund these scholarships. Additionally, ALC provides free Drug Testing Kits for concerned parents of teens. The ALC also assists with the Shattered Dream program at CHS which is designed to prevent teens from driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
