CHS senior Charles West (third from left) won the Bronze Medal in the 100m Dash (10.95) at the Region 1 meet in Lubbock. West will be an Alternate for the State Meet in Austin in May.

Fifteen CHS Track athletes traveled to Lubbock for the UIL 5A Region 1 Track & Field Meet held at Texas Tech's Fuller Track on April 26-27, 2013. Athletes representing 72 5A schools from Region 1 were all competing for the top two spots and a trip to the State meet in Austin on May 10-11, 2013.

Although none of the CHS Cowgirls or Cowboys won Gold or Silver to advance to the State meet, impressive Top Ten finishes were posted by: Charles West – 3rd 110m Dash (10.95); Cassidy Pickrell – 3rd High Jump (5-04.00); Carson Vickroy – 7th 3200m Run (9:45.81); Chibuzor Osuji – 7th 110m Hurdles (14.82); Sarah Agnew - 8th Pole Vault (11-00.00); Leah Yates, Chiamaka Ukoha, Bailey Bedichek and Sierra Andres – 8th 4x400m Relay (3:54.97); Kate Rohrbough, Andres, Ukoha and Adaiwu Nwaiwu – 9th 4x100m Relay (48.81); and Rosemary Brinegar – 10th Pole Vault (10-06.00)

In other Regional action, here's how the CHS athletes finished: Marcus Mitchell – 11th Triple Jump (44-02.75); Troy Parker – 11th 110m Hurdles (15.17); Nwaiwu, Ukoha, Bedichek and Marian McRae – 11th 4x200m Relay (1:42.27); Parker – 12th 300m Hurdles (40.59); Andres – 13th 400m Dash (58.56); Osuji – 15th High Jump (5-10.00); Clifton Fadal – 15th Long Jump (20-00.50); and Ukoha – 16th Triple Jump (34-01.75).

With 72 teams from 5-A Areas 1-4 represented at the Region 1-5A Track & Field meet in Lubbock, Coppell girls brought home a 21st Place team award, while the boys finished in 30th Place. Congratulations to all the CHS athletes.
