Coppell Sweeps Area 9-10 UIL 6A Track and Field

The Cowgirls and Cowboys took first overall at the UIL 6A Area 9-10 Track and Field meet on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Jesuit Stadium in Dallas.  The Cowgirls won the meet with 171 points.  Dallas Skyline followed in second place with 111 points.  The Cowboys took first place with 143 points followed by Garland Rowlett with 99 points. 

Coppell had 33 athletes qualify for the Region 2 – 6A meet on April 27-28 in Waco at Baylor University.  The team is led by the girls’ head coach, Nick Benton, and the boys’ head coach, Karl Pointer.

The individual point leader for the Cowgirls was senior, Payton Kirk, with a total of 34 points.  Kirk took first place in the long jump and the pole vault; second place in the 300 meter hurdles; and third place in the 100 meter hurdles.  Four other athletes took first place in their events including freshman, Morgan Colon, in the 800 meters; freshman, Chloe Hassman, in the 1600 meters; sophomore, Lauren Kellett, in the triple jump; and junior, Pierce Woodall, in the shot put.  The Cowgirls will have 20 athletes participating in the Regional meet.

The individual point leader for the Cowboys was sophomore, Jackson Walker, with a total of 20 points.  Walker took first place in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters.  Three other athletes took first place in their events including junior, Marcos Bohn, in the 3200 meters; senior, Philip Frank, in the high jump; and junior, Corbin Hicks, in the discus throw.  The Cowboys will have 13 athletes participating in the Regional meet.
