Troop 840 Boy Scouts prepare for their annual chili supper to be held December 2 at Coppell Middle School North
Boy Scout Troop 840 will host its 24th annual "All You Can Stand" Chili Supper on Saturday, December 2, 5 to 8 p.m., in the Coppell Middle School North cafeteria, located at 120 Natches Trace in Coppell.

Tickets are $8 for the all-you-can-eat dinner, which includes beef or vegetarian chili, hot dogs, baked potatoes, and all the fixings. Additionally, chili may be purchased by the quart for $12. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any Troop 840 scout.

Proceeds from the chili supper will be used to purchase camping gear, including tents, chairs, knives, hydration packs, sleeping bags, lanterns, and more for the annual Scout Buck Auction in May. Scouts must sell a pre-determined minimum amount of chili tickets to be eligible to participate in the auction, using "scout bucks" that they have earned throughout the year by attending meetings and campouts, advancing in rank, earning merit badges, holding leadership positions, participating in the knotmaster program, and other activities.

Steve Lacey has cooked the chili since the event began 23 years ago as a way to fund the auction. His son, Nathan, a Troop 840 alumnus, now helps with the annual event also.

Troop 840, which is led by Scoutmaster Phillip Morse and Senior Patrol Leader Riley Warner, meets weekly at Church of the Apostles.
