Football Preview: Coppell Carries Perfect Record into Week 4 Game Against Garland

The Coppell High School football team has started the season at a torrid pace, and they're hoping to keep it that way when they play host to Garland High School on Friday, September 21. Coppell (3-0) is undefeated thus far on the season while Garland (0-3) has yet to win a game in 2012.

Quarterback Colby Mahon has shredded defenses though the first three games of the season. So far, he's 30-of-42 in passing for 633 yards and nine touchdowns and no interceptions. His top receiver, Cameron Smith, has cause 13 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns.

The running game has been a solid, reliable back up for the Coppell offense. Running back Gavin McDaniel leads the team with 254 yards and two touchdowns. Charles West is second with 108 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Like the offense, the Coppell defense have been unstoppable so far this year. The unit has yet to allow any opponent to score more than 10 points in a game and has only allowed two touchdowns and one field goal all season.

The Garland offense runs through quarterback V.J. Gates and running back E'Lon Green. Gates has thrown for 348 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Green has carried the ball 39 times for 304 yards and one touchdown.

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 p.m.
