Coppell Varsity Marching Band Takes 2nd Place at the HEB Marching Contest

Coppell, TX - Coppell Varsity Marching Band competed at the 2017 HEB Marching Contest at Pennington Field on Saturday, October 7th. The band’s performance of its show “Haute Couture” earned them 1st place honors in Music, Visual and General Effect during the preliminary round. They also won 1st place honors in Music in the final round and placed 2nd overall at the competition.

This week's performance came after the inclusion of additions to the show that the students have been working on since their last contest. "Our performance this week definitely showed improvement. Moving from 11th place last week to 2nd this week is encouraging for all of us as we keep rehearsing to be our best." says Isabel Goodwin, Junior Euphonium player.

Assistant band director, Adrian Caswell remarked that "the student performers adapted beautifully for their performance today. Along with adding on a full production, they've made significant improvements and are becoming more engaging each week. We can't wait to get back to work, finish the show and push to the end."

The band will next be performing for UIL judges on Tuesday, October 17th and hope to continue their long tradition of excellence in student performance.
