The Coppell football squad is on a roll after winning their first two games of the season by a combined score of 72-14. However, they face a tough opponent in their third game of the 2012 season when they take to the road to play against Rockwall High School on Friday, September 14.
Both the Coppell offense and defense have been playing at the highest level so far, as evidenced by the lopsided scores in the first two games. Coppell quarterback Colby Mahon has torched the opposing secondaries - in two games, he's completed 21 out of 28 passing attempts for 480 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. His top receiver, Cameron Smith, has caught nine passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Coppell running backs Gavin McDaniel and Charles West have been workhorses for the Coppell offense. McDaniel has carried the ball the most with 46 rushing attempts for 184 yards and one touchdown. West has 106 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries for the Cowboys.
On defense, the Cowboys will need to pay special attention to Rockwall running back Chris Warren, who has garnered 285 yards and six touchdowns on only 31 carries so far this season. He's averaging an incredible 9.19 yards per rush so far. Quarterback Dylan Campman has been efficient when called upon with 21 completions for 230 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
The game will be held at Rockwall's Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Friday, September 14. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
