SaraBeth Tuffnell from Lakeside Elementary School received $2648 for her grant, "Ukuleles in the Music Classroom."

Earlier this fall the Coppell Education Foundation encouraged all Coppell ISD educators to submit grant requests for innovative and transformative ideas or projects and describe how it would impact student achievement.  This year over $106,000 in grant requests came in from across 15 campuses.  A grant committee within the Foundation reviewed the applications and determined which grants to fund. These projects are not otherwise funded by Coppell ISD and would not be possible without a grant.

Grant recipients find out if their grants are being funded by receiving a surprise visit from the CEF Board of Directors, who show up at their school with balloons and a big check.  This year's " grant patrol" took place on December 5th when the Board visited 13 campuses giving out 20 grants totaling over $41,539.

This year, of the 32 grants submitted, the Foundation funded 17. Three additional grants, “Little Hands Can Mold a Whole New World” at Cottonwood Creek Elementary for $255, “Lights, Camera, Learn” at Mockingbird Elementary for $1,121 and “World Water Day 2018” at Coppell Middle School East for $2,333 were covered by anonymous donors.  The Foundation is seeking other donors to fund an additional seven grants they felt were worthy but didn’t have the resources to fund.  Those interested in funding a grant are encouraged to contact the Foundation.

The Coppell Education Foundation has given 557 grants across CISD totaling over $1,067,165 throughout the past 18 years.  Other programs of the Foundation include Red & Black events such as the Run to Fund, Robotics Camp, Interactive Institute, Academic Recognition Banquet and Super Stars.  The Coppell Education Foundation is a non-profit organization of volunteers, chartered in 2000, in support of the students and teachers of Coppell ISD.

Information about all of the grants awarded in 2017, as well as those from past years,  can be found on the CEF's website at www.coppellisdef.com.
