The learners of Victory Place @ Coppell spent Wednesday morning volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank distribution center. Learners worked with volunteers from other organizations in the “Food 4 Kids” section. They prepared bags of nutritious, nonperishable, kid-friendly food for kids battling hunger to take home on the weekend. The program spans ten counties and operates in 365 schools. During their shift, our learners prepared 1,421 bags to help those identified by teachers as chronically hungry. As we finished our day, one learner reflected, “At first it was a struggle because we had to wake up earlier than normal, but once we realized how much these small acts helped others, it was worth it.” It was a valuable experience and lesson in service for all.
