Thursday, October 12 the Coppell Cross Country team competed in the District 9-6A Championship Meet at Norbuck Park in Dallas.  The Meet proved to be an exciting conclusion to the regular 2017 Cross Country season.  All of the teams brought back a 1^st place District 9-6A Championship trophy.

Junior Maddie Hulcy took 1^st place overall in the Girls Varsity division with a time of 18:56.1.  Chloe Hassman (19:22.3) placed 2^nd, Morgan Colon (19:51.6) was 4^th, Rowan Hassman in 5^th, and Natalie Fleming finished in 6^th giving Coppell a remarkable team score of 18.

Senior Matteo Agui-D’Arrigo placed 2^nd overall in the Boys Varsity division in a time of 16:39.3.  Rounding out the top five finishers for Coppell were juniors; Nathaniel Leach (16:49.2) in 3^rd, Kaz Carlsen-Phelan (16:59.2) in 4^th, Justin Chow in 5^th, and Marcos Bohn in 8^th place.

Sophomore Taylor Peltier placed 1^st overall in the Girls Junior Varsity division with a time of 20:33.1.  Shelby Spoor (20:56.4) took 2^nd, Jimena Benavides (21:07.4) was 4^th, Sarah Mobley in 5^th, and Dani Alfaro Flores in 6^th place gave Coppell another extraordinary team score of 18.

Junior Grant Evans took 1^st place overall in the Boys Junior Varsity division in a time of 17:26.6.  He was closely followed by Grant Reese (17:41.4) in 2^nd, AJ Rothwell (17:54.5) in 3^rd, Santiago Escalante in 4^th, and Drew Scrivner in 5^th.  The JV Boys captured a perfect 15 team score.

The Girls and Boys Varsity teams will move on to the Region 2-6A Championship Meet.  The Region 2-6A Meet will be held at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie on Monday, October 23.  Four teams out of a field of 24 will move on to state, as well as, the top ten individual runners not already going with a team.  Congratulations and Best of Luck at the Region Championship.
