The Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church of Coppell presents “Classics With The Chancel—Gospel Style” on Sunday, October 22, at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
This program of gospel music will feature Dr. Robert Chalwell, former Director of Music Ministries and former Director of the Coppell Community Chorale. Dr. Chalwell, known for his amazing tenor voice and incredible stylings of all music genres, will be featured on several selections with the Chancel Choir and will be featured in a solo rendition of “City Called Heaven” by Josephine Poelinitz.
The celebration of Gospel music will include congregational hymns such as “I’ve Got A Mansion Over the Hilltop” and “When We All Get to Heaven” as well as such favorites as “Old Time Religion,” “Standin’ in the Need of Prayer,” Down by the Riverside,” “Do, Lord,” and many more favorites, including men’s and women’s chorus selections.
The Chancel Choir is a 24-member chorus performing a variety of worship music each Sunday at the 11 a.m. Worship Service in the Sanctuary. The Choir is led by Ricky Mitchell and accompanied by organist/pianist Eunha Chang. Playing percussion will be Greg Merrill, and the Prelude will feature piano and flute played by Sarah Merrill.
There is no charge; however, an offering will be taken to support the Emergency Response Teams travelling to the Hurricane Harvey-affected areas. Child care will be provided.
