Powder Puff Game Scheduled for May 18
by Pam Takesh

The first practice is complete and a dedicated group of moms are aching but pumped for their upcoming Coppell Cheer Powder Puff game. Most of them have returned from previous years, willing participants to this physical torment, gluttons for punishment.

What? you say, it's only powder puff . . . well I'm here to tell you the name of the game is powder "rough." By the end of last year's game, there were broken fingers, broken toes, missing toenails and many bruises. But yet they say this is fun -- and it truly is!!

On May 18, at 6 p.m., they will playing their fourth annual game under the lights on Lesley Field at Coppell Middle School West.

"I think the guys really have fun seeing the roles reversed, watching the ladies get out on the field and be physical!" said JoAnn Eubank, co-chair of the planning committee.

The game itself is only the beginning of the evening's fun. Each player has a sponsor who will be wearing a shirt with a matching number. With a professional MC hosting, the players are introduced with a walk-up song they have chosen, interesting facts are given about the players throughout the game, and special shout-outs to friends and family are made. Both the youth football cheerleaders and Coppell High School cheerleaders will deliver a half-time show to remember.

New this year is an online auction which starts May 8 and runs through the May 18 ending at noon. New items are being added each day. To check out the offerings and place your bid, go to www.coppellcheer.com/auction. ; In addition, there will be silent auctions/raffle opportunities during the game.

This game is played to benefit Taylor's Gift and the Coppell Cheer Association which sponsors the youth football cheerleaders. Come join the fun on Saturday, May 18. To purchase tickets in advance, visit www.coppellcheer.com.
