The Coppell JV Cross Country team began the cross country season at the Waxahacie Woodhouse Invitational on Saturday, August 24.  The Lakeview Camp 5K course is a great place for race shock.  The course has generous terrain and the sheer number of competitors is a glimpse of what the team will experience later in the season.

The JV Girls team placed 4th overall behind Burleson Centennial, Mansfield, and Keller Timber Creek.  Junior Bernice David led the girls, she placed 3rd overall with a time of 21 minutes, 17.3 seconds.  Grace Turman (6th, 21:51.9), Callie Kutz (22:28.7), Elizabeth Grace Walker, and Megan Peltier were the top finishers for Coppell.

The JV Boys team placed 1st overall in a field of 21 teams.  Freshman Andrew Mullen finished 1st overall with a time of 17 minutes, 43.2 seconds.  Andrew Crichton (2nd, 17:51.1), Samuel Martinson (18:30.1), Karthikeyan Parthipan, and Dylan Newsom rounded out the point scorers for Coppell.

Head Coach Nick Benton pointed out that there were lots of kids competing for Coppell this past weekend.  "An opportunity to compete for Coppell is one of the most important things in the program", said Coach Benton.  The entire team will be back together for the Marcus I Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton on Saturday, August 31.
