Spring Break has ended and Coppell locals have retreated back home from their vacations. But the Lariettes, Coppell High School's drill team, are going to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. on Friday, March 22.

“Since it is not a trip for a competition, the trip is optional for the girls,” Lariettes instructor Julie Stralow said.

The purpose of this trip is to learn, perform and have some fun.

“We have a longer season than most groups. We go from August to March, take a break, then resume again,” Stralow said.

Every year, the Lariettes switch off on trips in state and out of state. Last year, the Lariettes went to San Antonio.

“Early Saturday, we will be taking a class behind Epcot. We don’t know exactly what they have planned for us, but we’ll probably learn a few new moves,” Stralow said.

The Lariettes will perform at Universal Studios on Sunday. The performance will consist of some competition dances, along with some traditional school dances that they have been performing at pep rallies.

Junior Lariette Nicolette Pianelli has been counting down the days for this trip.

“Last year’s trip to San Antonio was fun, but going to Disney World is just so much more exciting,” Pianelli said.  “We get to spend the majority of our time in the parks, and even when we are dancing, we are still having fun.”

Sophomore Lariette Maria Garcia is eager to get to Disney World, as this is her first trip with the Lariette girls.

“I hope to learn a few things from the class, and I hope the bond between the girls and I gets stronger,” Garcia said. “While developing dance skills, I hope all of our friendships continue to develop as well and that we have a successful performance.”

The Lariettes will be in Orlando until Monday, March 25.
