Buying landscaping materials

Troop 8493 Girl Scout, Lauren Potts, chose to complete her Gold Award project by helping the military at Fisher House of North Texas. Each Fisher House is located on the grounds of a major military and Veterans Affairs Hospital.  Fisher House of North Texas depends solely on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion. Lauren chose to landscape and beautify a section of the perimeter of Fisher House and provide "on the go" snack/meal bags. On May 24, 2019, Lauren and her volunteer team stripped down the dead tree, shrubs and plants. They then planted a new tree, new evergreen shrubs, perennial flowers and mulched the entire perimeter.  They also assembled 200 "on the go" meal/snack bags for the families staying at Fisher House so they can have something to eat while they stay close to their loved ones at the VA hospital. Lauren's goal in completing these two tasks was to enhance the livelihood and brightened the day of people staying at Fisher House.
