Did you know two thirds of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of the 4th grade end up in jail or on welfare?   Over 70% of America’s inmates cannot read above a 4th grade level.  One in four children in America grow up without learning how to read? Students who don’t read proficiently by the 3rd grad are four times likelier to drop out of school.  Let’s stock the Little Free Libraries are located at Kid’s Country, Duck Pond Park and Allen Road Park where children can pick out a book to read and once finished returned to the free library or return another one as a replacement.  This project has been in place for a while as the project for one of our local Girl Scouts, Meghan Bauer for her Gold Star award.  It has been a success in getting books into the hand of our children and encouraging reading.  Assistance League Coppell and National Charity League would like your help to assure these libraries are well stocked and this program continues.  Drop your books off at any of the following locations during the month of February and they will be put to good use in our community.
