Junior, Christian Leffingwell, brings in a 2nd place finish for the varsity boys 4x400 meter relay.

The Coppell High School Track and Field team hosted the Coppell Relays on Saturday, March 3 at Coppell High School.  Top area high school teams attending the meet included Southlake Carroll, Lewisville Flower Mound, Lewisville Marcus, and Lewisville Hebron.  The Coppell Boys dominated by taking 1st place in both the Varsity and JV divisions. 

The Varsity Boys finished in 1st place with 146.5 points.  Individual 1st place finishes went to Matthew Dicken, triple jump, 44-07.00 and Corbin Hick, discus throw, 153-09.25.  The 4x200 meter relay team of Jonathan McGill, Matthew Dicken, Gabriel Lemons, and Samir Thota took 1st place with a time of 1:30.32.  Other top finishes included Jacob Turman, 2ndplace, 400 meter, 51.11; Jaden Walker, 3rd place, 400 meter, 51.37; Jackson Walker, 2nd place,  800 meter, 1:57.49; Kevin Gough, 2nd place, Pole Vault, 12-06.00; Gabriel Lemons, 3rd place, Triple Jump, 42-05.00; Corbin Hicks, 3rd place, Shot Put, 45-03.25; David Winegarner, 3rd place, Discus Throw, 144-06, and Philip Frank in four events - 3rd place, 110 meter hurdles, 14.86, 3rd place, 300 meter hurdles, 40.11, 2nd place, High Jump, 6-06.00, 3rd place, Long Jump, 21-07.00.  A 2ndplace finish went to the 4x400 meter relay team of Jaden Walker, Samir Thota, Gabriel Lemons, Christian Leffingwell with a time of 3:25.86.

The JV Boys took 1st place with 151.5 points with the field events and relay teams dominating the meet.  Overall the team had nine 1st place finishes.  Individual point leader was Skyler Corbaley with 1st place in the 110 meter hurdles at 16.35, and the 300 meter hurdles at 43.66.  In addition to Corbaley, 1st place went to Gabriel Sosa, Pole Vault, 12-00.00; Sebastian Ardila, Long Jump, 20-01.00; Blake Anderson, Triple Jump, 41-09.50; Garrison Wheatly, Shot Put, 43-05.00; Zachary Tucker, Discus Throw, 121-08.  Two relay teams took 1st place – the 4x100 relay team of Colin Arteaga, Caden Davis, Cody Gast, Justin Murray at 44.56; and the 4x400 relay team of Brian Espey, Cody Gast, Justin Murray, Caden Davis at 3:36.43.  Other top finishes went to Justin Murray, 2nd place, High Jump, 5-10.00; Brian Espey, 2nd place, Pole Vault, 12-00.00; Evan Harper, Pole Vault, 11-06.00; Blake Anderson, Long Jump, 19-09.50; Garrett Hardin, 3rd place, Triple Jump, 38-05.00. 

The Varsity Girls placed 3rd with 86.5 points.    Lewisville Marcus took first with 133 points, and Lewisville Hebron took 2ndwith 92 points.  Senior, Payton Kirk, was the point leader for the Varsity Girls taking 1st place in the 300 meter hurdles at 46.16 and the long jump at 18-00.50, and 3rd place in the pole vault, 10-06.00.  Top finishers were Rachel Okereke, 2ndplace, triple jump, 36-01.50 and  Nicole Obialo, 1st place, Shot Put, 35-05.00.  The 4x400 meter relay team of Sikyra Castle, Emma Sherrer, Kaitlyn Hernandez, and Payton Kirk finished in 3rd place at 4:02.55.

The JV Girls placed 2nd overall with 97 points behind Lewisville Flower Mound in first with 114.5 points.  Morgan Colon finished 1st in the 800 meter with a time of 2:23.01.  Other top finishes included Yuki Masuda, 3rd place, 100 meter, 12.66; Madison Martin, 2nd place, 200 meter, 27.79; Reezon Eke, 2nd place, 400 meter 1:04.72; Sarah Mobley, 3rd place, 800 meter, 2:29.04; Landri Hubble, 3rd place, pole vault, 8-06.00.  3rd place went to the 4x100 meter relay team of Alyssa Lindberg, Madison Martin, Syah Jackson, Yuki Masuda at 52.20.  The 4x200 meter relay team of Alyssa Lindberg, Madison Martin, Yuki Masuda, Issabela Hinojos took 2nd place at 1:53.28.

The team travels to Max Goldsmith Stadium in Lewisville for the Goldsmith Relays on Thursday, March 8.
