The Southlake Distance Festival is an annual tradition held every March at Southlake High School. The meet attracts top distance runners from across the State of Texas. The distance runners from the Coppell High School Track & Field team participated in the meet. A number of personal records (PR) were accomplished by the team.
In the 800 meters – Boys High School Division, the top four runners securing a PR were Skyler Corbaley, 2:14.93; Diego Acosta 2:17.56; Ishraj Bhandarie, 2:19.91; and Ben Yaney 3:09.45.
In the 1600 meters - Boys High School Division, four runners ran under 5:00 minutes and earned a PR – Rith Bhattacharyya, 4:42.61; Chris Figueroa, 4:55.07; Jordan Jauregui, 4:55.87; and Riley Warner, 4:57.87.
In the 3200 meters – Boys High School Division, the top three Coppell runners earning a PR were Santiago Escalante, 10:18.98; Grant Evans, 10:27.06; and Tyler Sewell 10:52.34.
In the 5000 meters – Boy Emerging Elite Division, the five Coppell runners placed in the top 25 and all earned a PR. Kaz Carlsen-Phelan took fifth place at 15:53.74; AJ Rothwell finished in 18th place at 16:20.20; Marcos Bohn finished in 21st place at 16:28.68; Evan Caswell finished in 22nd place at 16:30.34; and Colin Proctor finished in 25th place at 16:41.21.
In the 800 meters – Girls High School Division, the top three runners securing a PR were Ardi Saunders, 2:23.00; Reezon Eke, 2:26.10; and Hannah Switzer, 2:30.37.
In the 1600 meters - Girls High School Division, two runners ran under 6:00 minutes and earned a PR – Sarah Mobley, 5:40.07; and Bernice David, 5:55.47.
In the 5000 meters – Girls Emerging Elite Division, three Coppell runners placed in the top 13 and earned a PR. Shelby Spoor took first place at 18:39.23; Taylor Peltier finished in 12th place at 19:45.59; and Rowan Hassman finished in 13th place at 19:53.84.
In the 5000 meters – Girls Elite Division, three Coppell runners competed in this division. Natalie Fleming finished in ninth place and earned a PR at 18:01.72. A PR was also earned by Maddie Hulcey, 18:46.56; and Chloe Hassman, 19.:29.45.
The entire Coppell Track & Field team with be back in action on Saturday, March 24 at the Flower Mound Jaguar Invitational at Flower Mound High School.
