Texas Creative Arts Academy Produces Teen Musical in Newly Renovated Theatre

Texas Creative Arts Academy kicks off the 2012-2013 season with the production of the all-teen musical “13” in three performances in May. A local, all-teen cast is currently in rehearsal and will perform on Texas Creative Arts Academy’s own stage located at 773 S. MacArthur Blvd. Suite in Coppell.

TCAA’s Founder and Executive Director, Donna Park, directs this Jason Robert Brown score. “We’ve assembled an unbelievably talented cast,” remarked Park. “While most of our cast is from Coppell, we’ve also got cast members from Flower Mound and Southlake.  We can’t wait to get it up on our newly renovated stage. It’s such an exciting time for TCAA.”

Texas Creative Arts Academy Theatre recently received a generous donation of professional theatre lighting from Phillips Entertainment. This summer, Abel Builds Excellence Construction also donated structural renovations that resulted in a much larger stage, tech booth and ample space for lighting and sound equipment.

The Show:

Evan Goldman has it all – he’s popular, has the ‘perfect’ family and lives in the greatest city in the world – New York. That is until his parents get divorced and he’s forced to move - to a small town in Indiana.  Uprooted from his old life, he has to make new friends and somehow maneuver the minefield of High School to become part of the ‘in-crowd’. With wit and searing honesty, 13 is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages.  It’s about the lessons one learns throughout life and the discovery that the journey to who you want to be starts with discovering who you are.  Featuring an explosive rock score by celebrated composer Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years) 13 is a grown-up story about growing up.

Performances for “13” are Friday, October 26 at 7pm, Saturday, October 27 at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday, October 28 at 2pm. Tickets are available online at www.texascreativeartsacademy.com
