CWC March speaker Amanda Vanhoozier will discuss Smart Texas Gardens with club members.

The Coppell Women’s Club will host City of Coppell employee and Green Team member Amanda Vanhoozier at its March 6 general meeting. Vanhoozier will present “Smart Texas Gardens.”

Nominated for the 2013 Green Source DFW Environmental Leadership Award, Vanhoozier brought ideas for the Coppell Community Garden and the Coppell Farmers Market to the city and serves as program supervisor.

Vanhoozier will present strategies for selecting, planting and keeping home landscapes and curb appeal fresh, inviting and sustainable. She will offer tips to maintain a yard despite summer heat and watering restrictions. She will also teach members how to attract and introduce the most beneficial insects to a garden.

The March meeting will be held at the North Lake College Coppell Campus, with doors opening for social time at 9:30 a.m. and the general meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Members will have the opportunity to order nametags with the CWC hummingbird logo.

Membership currently stands at 173 women, and half-price memberships are now available. For more information about CWC, contact membership chair Annette Morton at: membership@coppellwomensclub.org.
