It was a very competitive day for CHS Track athletes, as 18 local teams converged on Buddy Echols Field for the Coppell Relays held Saturday, March 2. The meet was hosted and coordinated by the Coppell Track and Field Booster Club, coaches, student athletes and volunteers.

The meet drew a record number of teams, resulting in intense competition throughout the day. With a contest of 30 to 40 athletes per event, runners and field event competitors needed to bring their very best performance to be one of the top six finishers in order to earn points for their teams.

The Cowboys men's varsity team finished the day in fourth place. First place honors went to Marcus Mitchell in the Triple Jump, and to the distance medley relay team of Clayton Hemphill, Darian Lowe, Shane Murray and Carson Vickroy. Taking third Place were Cameron Smith in the 100m Dash, Lowe in the 400m Dash, and Cliftin Fadal in the Long Jump. Chibuzor Osuji placed fourth in the High Jump. The 4x100m Relay team of Chris Bates, Eric Stevenson, Gavin McDaniel and Smith came in fifth, as did Vickroy in the 1600m Run, Osuji in the 110m Hurdles, and William Udeh in the Shot Put. Adding sixth place points to the team total were Chad Williams in Pole Vault, Leighton Light in Shot Put, and the 4x400m Relay team of Lowe, Jacob Murray, Mark Teffeteller and Stevenson.

The CHS Women's Varsity team took home a sixth place finish. The 4x200m Relay team of Bailey Bedichek, Sierra Andres, Adaiwu Nwaiwu and Chiamaka Ukoha won second place, as did Long Jumper Kate Rohrbough and Pole Vaulters Sarah Agnew and Rosemary Brinegar. Crossing the finish line in third was the 4x400m Relay team of Andres, Marian McRae, Leah Yates and Ukoha. Paola Lozano placed fifth in Pole Vault, as did the 4x100m Relay team of Nwaiwu, Anna Novosadova, Rohrbough and Ukoha. Ukoha also added sixth place points for Triple Jump.

Contributing points to the JV Girls fourth place finish were: Selase Buatsi, Nicole Francis, AnnMarie Vincenzo, Rachel Watley, Meg Howard, Robyn Okereke, Sarah Slover, Alyssa Cervantes, Chinma Omogoh and Morgan Widner. JV Boys also finished fourth, thanks to Adam Centers, Brock Ethridge, Austin Moore, Alex Abalos, Bryce Vonzurmuhlen, Taylor Wilhelm, Giovante Amaya, Elliott Tostrud, Jordan Barbo, Lynn Conkleton, Matt Rockefeller, Conner Oh, Zach Holmes, George Fairchild, Allan Slette and Connor Williams.
