Have you seen the Red & Black Backer signs at your child’s school or in your neighbor’s yard and wondered what they are? Every fall, the Coppell Education Foundation holds its annual fundraiser called Red & Black. The funds raised during this campaign go toward innovative teacher/classroom grants awarded by the Foundation to schools within Coppell ISD. Each year, every teacher in the district has the opportunity to apply for Foundation grants. Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $34,000 in grants and gifts.

The Foundation hopes to get $5 from every family in the district. Those that have a Red & Black Backer sign in their yard contributed at least $20.

The elementary school with the highest percentage of family participation wins a school-wide popsicle party. Cottonwood Creek Elementary is currently in first place. The middle school that wins will have a drawing for several Bahama Buck’s Snow Cone Party Packs. Coppell Middle School East is currently in first place. The contest between the schools runs through November 22.
