Dr. Michael Goddard Accepts Executive Leadership Position at Prestonwood Christian Academy

After an extensive nationwide search and interview process, Dr. Michael Goddard has been named Head of Schools, Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) School System, a ministry of Prestonwood Baptist Church. Dr. Goddard currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools for the Lovejoy Independent School District. Effective March 15, Goddard will assume leadership and strategic oversight of the PCA School System – PCA Plano, PCA North (Prosper), PCAplus Virtual Academy, PCA Hybrid (a three-days-a-week classroom model), St. Timothy Christian Academy serving students with learning differences, and The King’s Academy in South Dallas.

“From the very beginning of Prestonwood Christian Academy, God’s gracious provision has been on this school in a miraculous way, and that provision has led us to Dr. Goddard,” said Eddie Caldwell, head of the school’s search committee. “I am thrilled that God has directed our path to Dr. Goddard to lead the PCA School System forward into the future. He is not only a top educational administrator, but he loves Jesus and is passionate about training the next generation to follow Christ and to serve Him with excellence in every area of life.”

Goddard’s professional experience of more than three decades is characterized by positivity, energetic encouragement, a pursuit of excellence, and a passion for inspiring excellence in those around him. Prior to his work as the Lovejoy Superintendent of Schools, Goddard served as Superintendent of the Red Oak Independent School District and as Assistant Superintendent of Prosper Independent School District, where he oversaw the growth of that district from 3,000 to 12,000 students. He also served as an administrator with the McKinney Independent School District. Dr. Goddard was a nominee for National Superintendent of the Year, and districts under his leadership have consistently performed at the highest levels of academic and co-curricular pursuits. He was also recently named the Top Large Company CEO in 2020 by The Dallas Morning News for his exemplary leadership of the Lovejoy school system.

Prior to his educational career, Goddard served as Camp Director at T Bar M Christian Camps and as an area representative with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame at Allen High School, and was four-year captain and starting quarterback for the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks.

Goddard is a Nationally Certified Trainer for Vital Smarts - Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability, a Certified Jon Gordon Power of Positive Leadership Coach, and an Internationally Certified John Maxwell Speaker, Trainer, and Coach. He is a highly sought-after speaker throughout the country. Goddard is a longtime member of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

“I have known Dr. Goddard for about 30 years and have always admired his personal and professional integrity, high-energy leadership style and superb communication skills,” said Dr. Jack Graham, Pastor of Prestonwood. “I truly believe he is God’s man for this role as we begin a new chapter in the PCA School System. I am grateful for Dr. Goddard’s passion for Christ, for Kingdom Education, and for instilling the love of both into our students.”

Goddard earned his Ed.D. in post-secondary administration from University of North Texas (2004), Ed.M. with an emphasis in counseling and student services from University of North Texas (2000) and B.A. in communications from Stephen F. Austin State University (1994).

“I’m in awe and wonder of how God has directed my journey to now be called to serve the students, staff, teachers and families of Prestonwood Christian Academy,” Dr. Goddard said. “Prestonwood Church has been a huge part of our family and it’s an opportunity of a lifetime to now join the PCA Family. I cannot wait to see what God has planned for the PCA community ahead. It is going to be amazing.”

Prestonwood Christian Academy is made up of five schools serving students across the Dallas Metroplex and virtually throughout the world. More than 1,650 students are enrolled at three campuses: PCA Plano (Pre-K3 through 12th Grade), PCA North in Prosper (Pre-K3 through 10th Grade adding a grade level every year through the first graduating class of 2023) and PCAplus Virtual Academy. St. Timothy Christian Academy in Plano serves students with learning differences and The King’s Academy provides a Christian education to students in South Dallas. A new school called PCA Hybrid (a three-days-a-week classroom model) will open in August 2021 at the Plano campus. The PCA School System has been recognized as having one of the strongest Christian education programs in the country providing intentional biblical worldview training and integration. PCA places great value on the growth of students’ spiritual health in addition to their scholastic endeavors and co-curricular activities. Tantamount to its Spiritual Development plan is PCA’s rigorous Liberal Arts academic program. From the first graduating class in 2002 through the class of 2020, graduates have been offered more than $140 million in scholarship for academics, arts and athletics from universities and other institutions of higher learning. PCA schools are now enrolling for the 2021-22 school year. Go to prestonwoodchristian.org/admissions for more information.
