Frost Becomes New Coppell Favorite

Ever since the bakery Frost opened for business In May, it has been a hit in Coppell. Between its amazing cupcakes, cheesecakes and other baked goods it is not hard to tell why they have had such notable success.

“I’ve always been in baking. I did it out of my home while I cared for my mother for several years,”  Frost owner and Anna Wortman said. “When she passed I started working on fulfilling our dream.”

Wortman has been a resident of Coppell for more than 30 years and could not be more thrilled to get the location for the bakery that she did.

Located on 717 Main Street, Coppell the cottage style bakery fits perfectly into the trendy development of Old Coppell just behind The Local Diner.  Inside the warm cottage and is an open room with a selection of baked goods at the front counters.

Deprived of a Cheesecake Factory, Coppell citizens could not come by white chocolate raspberry cheesecake without driving 30 minutes away until the opening of Frost. Frost signals the arrival of a legitimate bakery in Coppell.

But what they are best at is by far their specialty cupcakes. Their Good Morning Cupcake is one of the best items on the menus. This coffee flavored cupcake is one delicious way to kick start your morning with caffeine.

Others to try out include the Birthday Cake Cupcake, Wedding Cake Cupcake and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake.

They also serve the basic Red Velvet, Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes.

What makes Frost’s Cupcakes stand out is that they use just the right amount of frosting.

Bakeries nearby load on the frosting to the point that if you bit straight into one of their cupcakes you would get a frosting mustache. In attempt to avoid this some eat the cupcake at an angle and end up with a tiny piece of cake bearing a mountain of frosting in comparison. Customers cringe before taking the final bite of a sweetness overload.

Frost however, has the perfect frosting proportions.

They are also allergy friendly. For the first time ever at Frost I saw a bakery ask if I or the people with me were allergic to peanuts. When I said I was, Wortman was quick to make sure that the baked goods we bought with peanut products were kept in separate packages than the ones without nuts.

“This is home and we want people to feel like that when they come into here too,” Wortman said.

Frost even takes custom orders and will soon open their second floor to host parties on.

The future looks bright for Frost, who is already becoming as much of a staple to Coppell as The Local Diner or Anamia’s.
