World Affairs Council Event with Stephen Biddle

Victory Place @ Coppell was well represented at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas where learners attended a World Affairs Council Event featuring Stephen Biddle. Learners were served in an elegant fashion by Crescent Court servers and had the opportunity to visit with guests of the WAC before the event.

Following the luncheon, WAC members, guests and our learners were attentive as Stephen Biddle addressed the Council’s 2017 International Perspective Series on the topic “U.S. Military Sales: Are We Getting Our Money’s Worth?”  Mr. Biddle is an Adjunct Senior Fellow for Defense Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations and he is a veteran analyst of American policies and decisions in military efforts. He expertly addressed the issue drawing from his vast knowledge and experience in the field of military spending and foreign policy.

Stephen Biddle is author of the 2005 book, “Military Power: Explaining Victory and Defeat in Modern Battle” and has won several prizes including the Council on Foreign Relations’ Author Ross Award Silver Medal for 2005 and the 2005 Huntington Prize from the Harvard University Olin Institute for Strategic Studies. He is currently a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University and has held positions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Institute for Defense Analyses, Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the Harvard Kennedy School’s Office of National Security Programs.

Mr. Biddle’s address was informative and timely as he discussed U.S. military involvement and the costs of that involvement in several arenas around the world. He assessed the outcomes of this involvement in terms of our mission. Our learners benefited greatly from the exposure and the experience and represented VP@C in a professional manner. The event was invaluable and enhanced our learner’s understanding of our global community and the global connections at play in our increasingly complex interdependent world.
