CHS Hockey Association Announces New JV Head Coach

Aaron Gauntt has long ties to the Coppell High School Hockey Association. He started playing hockey for the CHSHA in 2004, and he has spent the past five years as an assistant coach and skills coach for the organization.

Now, Gauntt will be taking on an even bigger role for the association.

The CHSHA has announced that, starting immediately, Gauntt will be serving as the organization's junior varsity head coach.

"I love giving back to the organization that I grew up with," Gauntt said. "I was part of the 2003 State Championship team. I enjoy seeing the younger players grow as a player but enjoy it more seeing them grow up to be young men."

Gauntt began his coaching career while attending Texas A&M University, where he attained his Level Three USA Hockey coaching certification and spent time as a coach for youth leagues and his university's club team. He has even worked as an assistant director of hockey operations for a rink.

Having started playing hockey at the age of seven, Gauntt continued throughout his career as a student at Coppell High School.

Gauntt has been described as an "excellent ambassador" for the organization, and he looks forward to not only teaching the sport of hockey but also being a role model for the students.

"If the only thing your player learns from me is hockey then I failed myself, you, the player and Coppell Hockey," Gauntt said.

Gauntt, who is a Coppell native, lives in the city with his wife, Brittany, and their two young daughters.
