Pooja Reddy won first place in the 13 years old and above category.

Young, talented artists from the City of Coppell and the surrounding areas that attend Falak Arts of Coppell had the opportunity to have themselves and their work be put in the spotlight at the Children's Art Exhibition on Sunday, September 9.

The event was held at the Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas. More than 90 young artists participated in the Children's Art Exhibition and more than 140 paintings were showcased and judged. The artwork topics were as varied as their method of creation - students drew paintings of landscapes, animals, flowers and Indian village scenes in charcoal, water colors, acrylic and oil paints.

Students were grouped into three age categories and three winners were selected from each age category.

4 - 8 years old

  • 1st place: Krisha Shah - "Waiting for Spring" - water color
  • 2nd place: Shruti Pritmani - "Bird on a Stamp" - water color
  • 3rd place: Ryan Agrawal - "House" - water color
  • 3rd place: Siya Sanghavi - "Hansel and Gretel" - water color

9 - 12 years old

  • 1st place: Alisha Patel - "Women with Pots" - oil paint
  • 2nd place: Rachana Inteti - "Contemporary Ganesh" - acrylic
  • 3rd place: Mauli Kinkhabwala - "2 Women" - charcoal

13 years old and above

  • 1st place: Pooja Reddy - "Bride" - mixed media
  • 2nd place: Abhinav Thumala - "Ganesh" - dry pastel
  • 3rd place: Juhi Parekh - "Landscape" - acrylic and oil paint

"It was extremely difficult to choose the best 3 for each category from such an exemplary group of young artists," said Sharice Williams. Williams was one of the judges chosen for the competition. She is an art teacher at North Hills School.

The awards were sponsored by Ottimmo Learning Institute located in Coppell and Lewisville. Ottimmo teaches english, math and sciences for grades 3-12 and also offer classes for SAT/ACT and college essays.
