Typical September heat returned for the 2017 Gerald Richey Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.  Between the late morning start and hot temperature this invitational was more a measure of toughness than of speed. 

The Varsity Girls team won 1^st place in Division II.  Junior, Maddie Hulcy was back this week and captured a 1^st place finish with a time of 19:11.1.  Other impressive top five finishers were Chloe Hassman (19:31.7) in 3^rd place, Natalie Fleming (19:46.0) in 5^th place, Rowan Hassman in 6^th place, and Izzy Iseley in 8^th place.

The Varsity Boys team brought back a 2^nd place finish just behind Lucas Lovejoy.  Senior, Matteo Agius D’Arrigo led Coppell with a 3^rd place finish in a time of 16:15.1.  Senior, Grant Reese was next for Coppell with a 6^th place finish and time of 16:37.8.  Marcos Bohn (17:07.2) in 13^th place, Garrett Freddo in 14^th place, and Quinn Proctor in 22^nd place rounded out the top five finishers for Coppell.

The JV Girls team also clinched 1^st place with a perfect team score of 15.  This week Junior, Katelin Reznicek led the JV Girls with a 1^st place finish in a time of 21:42.9.  Jimena Benavides (22:21.1) took 2^nd, Catherine Kimball (22:27.3) placed 3^rd, Bernice David in 4^th, and Sara Mobley in 5^th rounded out the perfect team score.

The JV Boys team also brought back 2^nd place, behind Lucas Lovejoy.  Junior, Fernando Cornjo-Vazquez led Coppell with a 2^nd place finish in a time of 18:18.4.  Top five finishing teammates were Riley Warner (18:30.0) in 5^th, Rith Bhattacharyya (18:30.9) in 6^th, Drew Scrivner in 10^th, and Parker Hicks in 11^th.

Returning to the schedule this season is the Coppell Invitational.  Saturday, September 23 the Coppell Invitational will be held at Meadowmere Park in Grapevine at 7:30 am.  This is the ideal opportunity to come out and make some noise for your Coppell Cross Country team.
