The Coppell High School football team is riding on a massive wave of momentum after a 41-8 demolishing of former No. 9 Longview last weekend at SMU's Ford Stadium. Now, they'll try to keep that momentum going when they play host to McKinney Boyd this week.

Coppell quarterback Colby Mahon was electrifying last week, shredding the Longview defense for 287 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Even more amazing was that he did this on just nine completions out of 11 passing attempts. His main target, wide receiver Cameron Smith, caught four passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

The running game took a backseat to Mahon but they got the job done. running back Charles West had 21 yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown. Jacob Logan has three carries for 11 yards and also found the end zone.

On defense, the Cowboys will need to pay close attention to McKinney Boyd running back Bryan Driskell, who gashed Mesquite Horn for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Quarterback Curtis Ladd was also efficient, completing 10 out of 18 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He also ran eight times for 38 yards.

Coppell will take on McKinney Boyd on Friday, September 7. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
