The East Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team participated in the District Tournament on February 16-17, 2012 at Byron Nelson High School.

The Broncos entered the tournament as the #1 seed for the second year in a row.  On the first night of the tournament they beat a tough Indian Springs team and followed it with a victory over Keller Middle School.  This set up a rematch of last year's District Championship against the Carroll Dragons.

In the first half of the game, both the Broncos and the Dragons played great defense.  East, in particular, played their best defense of the year en route to a 12 - 8 halftime lead.  In the fourth quarter, the Broncos stepped it up and converted a number of Carroll turnovers into a 16 point lead.  East then maintained that lead and milked the clock for a 35 - 19 victory and their second straight District basketball championship!

The East basketball team was coached by Wes Shivers and consisted of Andrew Smith, Jake Mayes, Josh Fink, Brandon Rice, Myles Paschall, Rudy Rampersad, Alex Vuchkov and Will Switzer.  Sujay Adhikari, regularly a "B" team player, moved up to the "A" team to play in the tournament and did a great job.  The "A" team finished the season 14 - 0 and was undefeated for the second year in a row.
