The Coppell High School Madrigal Singers choir earned Superior Ratings and a Performance of Distinction Award at the 41st Annual American Classics Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival, held in San Antonio on February 25.  The choir was also honored by being asked to submit a recording of their work which will be included in a CD to be distributed to choirs across the country as an example of Exemplary Performance by a chamber choir.

Earlier in February, 64 choir students competed in Region 20/U.I.L. Solo & Ensemble contest.   Thirty-seven soloists and 15 ensemble singers were selected from among those competing to advance to state level competition which will be held in Austin later this spring.

In speaking about these achievements, Albert Torres, choir director, says “these awards speak volumes about the level of talent in Coppell and the dedication that each student puts into preparing for competition.”   He and assistant director Will McLean are particularly pleased about being asked to submit a recording because it allows Coppell students to be role models for other choirs in the country.
