#7 Stjepan Kilic and the Cowboys went undefeated in the Men's Governor's Cup in Georgetown last week.


The #5 nationally ranked Cowboys Varsity Soccer team traveled to Georgetown, TX last week to compete in the Men's Governor's Tournament at Georgetown High School where they went undefeated in three games.  The Cowboys first game on Thursday night was a 3-0 win over Houston area's Deer Park High School.  Sophomore Francisco Redondo scored two goals with junior Parker McClure assisting.  Sophomore Wyatt Priest headed the third goal in off of a throw in by senior Tanner Traw.  Senior midfielder, Scott Simigian, was named Player of the Game.

The Cowboys took on another Houston area team, Strake Jesuit, on Friday night with a 0-0 outcome.  Strake Jesuit packed their box the entire game and the Cowboys were not able to come up with a goal.  Saturday morning, however, resulted in multiple goals for the Cowboys with their 6-0 shutout over El Paso's Franklin High School. Junior Bishesh Manandhar and Wyatt Priest scored two goals each with assists from senior Rodrigo Zuniga and senior Marcelo Gaitan.  Francisco Redondo had one with an assist from junior Nick Taylor and Tanner Traw's goal came from an assist by Redondo.  The Player of the Game Award went to senior midfielder, Stjepan Kilic.

The Cowboys finish their preseason play on Tuesday, January 19th against the Jesuit Rangers.  Their district play kicks off on Tuesday, January 26th when all three Cowboys soccer teams travel to L.D. Bell High School to take on the Blue Raiders.  The Cowboys first district home game will be on Friday, January 29th with a double header home opener with the Cowgirls Varsity Soccer team when they both take on rival Southlake Carroll.  Cowboys Varsity kicks off at 5:45 pm.  You won't want to miss the excitement!
