#8 Scott Simigian and the Cowboys went undefeated in the North Texas Elite Showcase held in Coppell.

The SIMA Fab 50 #5 nationally ranked Cowboys Soccer team hosted the North Texas Elite Showcase Tournament January 7th through 9th at Coppell High School and Coppell Middle School North.  Fourteen teams from across the state participated in the three day showcase.  In their first game, the Cowboys had a 3-1 win over McNeil High School from Austin.  Junior Parker McClure scored the first goal off of a cross by senior Brandon Bohn with sophomore Wyatt Priest finding the back of the net with an assist from senior Scott Simigian to make it 2-0.  It would be McClure, who was named Player of the Game,  to score again off of a corner kick by junior Nick Taylor to make it 3-0.  McNeil was able to get one in, but the Cowboys defense was too strong for anything else.   The JV Cowboys beat Burleson Centennial Varsity 4-0 in their first game of the showcase.

The Cowboys next showcase game was a 3-0 shutout against John Paul II High School where Wyatt Priest found the back of the net again with an assist from Player of the Game, Nick Taylor.  It would be senior forward Marcelo Gaitan to make the score 2-0 with another assist from Taylor.  The third goal would come from senior Scott Simigian off an assist by Parker McClure.  The Cowboys defense led by senior goalkeeper, Jarod Longoria, was able to shut down the Saints.  The Cowboys then faced Fab 50 #2 nationally ranked Sam Houston High School from Arlington in a hard fought battle that ended in a 1-1 tie on Saturday to finish their showcase play.  The Texans were up 1-0 at the half, but the Cowboys came back to score in the 2nd half with a goal by Nick Taylor off a cross by Wyatt Priest.  The Cowboys solid defense was led by Andrew Grimmer who was named Player of the Game.  The JV Cowboys tied WT White Varsity with a score of 2-2 in their second showcase game.

The Cowboys will head to Georgetown, TX Thursday, January 14th through Saturday, January 16th to compete in the Men's Governor's Cup where they will face teams from across the state in what is sure to be some tough competition.  The Cowboys will then finish their preseason play with an away game against Jesuit on Tuesday, January 19th.  They will begin District play on Tuesday, January 26th when they travel to L.D. Bell High School to take on the Blue Raiders.
