It was an absolutely gorgeous day when Coppell Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) opened their Spring Season this past Saturday, Feb.27. With the recent closing of Andy Brown West Park, the CYSA and the City of Coppell Parks and Rec Department had an extremely challenging job accommodating the 1600 youth players during the redevelopment project, expected to take 18 months. The City was able to utilize every available square inch of Wagon Wheel Park to fit all U5-U10 teams. The CYSA also worked closely with the CISD, Coppell Lacrosse Association and Coppell Youth Football, who are helping accommodate CYSA's U11- U19 teams and 115 adult co-ed players at the beautiful middle school turf fields. After it was found that a bit more space was needed than was available within the city, Greater Lewisville Area Soccer Association stepped up and offered to accommodate the remaining U11-U19 teams that still needed a few more game fields. The entire community, plus some, pulled together to make sure these soccer players have a place to play while Andy Brown West is under construction.
